I am soo jealous!! This comp was insane when i went 2 years ago!! It was seriously the most fun I have had at the comp. Music was played b/t each group and everyone... i mean everyone was singing and dancing and just having a good time!! Soo much fun!!

I'm going to have to agree with Adam though. In previous years it would have been QUITE a feat to beat Petal and Onalaska, but last year was definitely a down year for both groups. As to the success of Troy Buchanan's show choir program, I have no doubt that it is a good program... The choral program.... well it is common knowledge that Troy's vocals are not their strong suit.

Soundwave definetly won the prep division at chicagoland last year...they only didnt take gc in prep at two competitions last year and that wasnt one of them

That's already been settled, no one is debating it anymore, and it probably doesn't need to be started up again.

I think troy does a better job understanding the balance btwn choreo and singing then mtz. Not to mention I think troy guys have some of the best guy sound out there.

Out of curiousity, where are you from Kristen?

I've always liked Troy, but I will agree that the last few years have been down for them. In 2003, and 2004 they were GREAT! Vocals were great, choreography clean and good. And from 2005-Present I think they put show design and choreography ahead of singing. Choreography I can understand, since it's one of the two main "ingredients" for a good show, show design shouldn't. I loved Troy's show, and ability to draw the audience in, but I really thought that last year, for as big of a group as they are, they should be able to produce a lot more sound (healthy, of course) than what they did! Hopefully this will be a great year for Troy- best of luck in competition.

I think you meant to say... "Jorge, you're a Troy hater. We get it."

I kind of like it... "Jorge the Troy Hater"... it's kind of catchy. I'll add it to the list.

Troy is defiantly a group that is sometimes overlooked. Last year they beat Onalaska and Petal at this competition(as well as my own group but no surprise there.lol) I also attended Sullivan last year just as a spectator where their prep group as well as their varsity group made finals...quite an amazing feat(and it wasn't like some competitions where the top scoring prep group makes finals. Their prep group auctually beat out varsity groups to compete in the finals)

Is beating Petal and Onalaska really something special? No offense to any of the groups, but Onalaska and Petal's shows weren't exactly the greatest sets last year.

I was at Chicago last year as well!! I DEFINATLY remember Troys prep group winning as well as their varsity. I do remember prospect's prep group winning 1st runner up and winning medals as well. I just remember this standing out bc it was truly a testament to the strength of the Troy Buchanan Choral Program. I'm quite certain of this.

I was there also and we have pictures, medals, and a trophy to prove it!

Here's a picture of PROSPECT COMPANY right after they won GRAND CHAMPION for the PREP DIVISION at CHICAGOLAND 2007.

I am pretty sure that Troy's prep group did win at chicagoland, but if i remember right they were in a division that was not with prospect girls group. so BOTH Troy and Prospects groups won. can't wait to go again this year!
