I don't see how doing a foriegn song gets you docked points. Maybe if you perform it bad, which you deserve that. If anything you gain them. Momentum performs these songs very well and you can understand what they say. This competition will probly mean the most to any of the washington kids, so just because one group is "doing work" that doesn't mean everyone else is not.

Personally I'm sure they'll get more points, because it's a heck of alot harder, diction-wise, than it is in English.

I'm mostly interested to see how well Momentum performs the song they will be adding into their set for this competition! Honestly, I can see placements going a lot of different ways at this one.

Agreed!!!!

I just see linn mar doing work after not being in finals at Benton and bouncing back here, also the judges might not like washs two foriegn language songs

I would just like to point out that Washington beat Lincoln Southwest by i believe 30+ points, i just don't see them losing to Linn Mar or Iowa City West.

I guess i shouldnt have said that it changed everything for me. It just put Linn-mar much lower on the totem poll for me personally. Kennedy on the other hand...I can't tell you why i put Waconia above them. Ive heard good things about Waconia? thats not a good enough reason, but thats all i got. I really wasnt sure whether i wanted to go with CRK in third or in fourth, and i just went with my gut. And youre right, shows definitely do change a lot over that time period, so i would not be shocked at all if Happiness pulled out a 1RU. I just really liked Wash's show at Muscatine, and i wasnt a huge fan of Kennedy's at Viterbo. And as for Linn Mar over Iowa City West? I wasnt particularly impressed with Iowa City West, or Linn-mar. So i put them 4th and 5th runner up. Take is as you may, i wasnt trying to be quite so systematical about it.

Oh well I just thought you were trying to be systematic about it... that what you said on the top of your post. If you were just going off opinions I wouldn't have anything to argue about. This is gonna be super close. I don't think anyone will accurately predict this competition.

I'm confused.... Why after Benton's results are you putting Kennedy so low? Is it because they lost to Linn-Mar at Viterbo? That was like 5 6 weeks ago.... Shows change so much in that time frame. They beat Wash at Supernova so shouldn't you take Wash down too?

And I think it's unfair to dock Kennedy on that. After all they got a SOLID 4th place at Urby, losing to great groups. And they beat a Prairie group who placed over Jefferson in day round at Monona Grove right? So if you're gonna go off Viterbo results, you MUST go off Monona Grove results since it was a week later...

I have full confidence Happiness will place WELL here.

So I have decided to wager a guess on this one. It is based on gut feeling, more than anything else.

Grand Champion: Wheaton-Warrenville "The Classics"
1st Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Kennedy "Happiness Inc."
2nd Runner-Up: Cedar Rapids Washington "Momentum"
3rd Runner-Up: Linn-Mar "10th St. Edition"
4th Runner-Up: Waconia "Power Company"
5th Runner-Up: Iowa City West "Goodtime Co."

Vocals, Choreo., and Band all going to Wheaton.

I thought Happiness was a different group during their night show at Urbandale than I had seen previously this year. Their ballad was the best vocal I heard of the night. If they continue from that show they could win, or end up at sixth. That's the great thing about Great River, the level of competition is so high that simply making finals is a triumph.

I hope Kennedy places higher. I have been a Happiness fan for as long as I've been a show choir fan! This year is no different. I just believe the groups above them will place higher. I am not spouting off the order groups have placed in the past, because as we've already seen time and time again this season, results are all over the place every week. I will say this, however - after Benton, I do not see Linn-Mar bringing anything less than their best to the table on Saturday.

My predictions are always wrong anyway!

The "Happiness, Inc." that performs and competes at "Great River" year after year is not the same "Happiness, Inc." that everyone else sees throughout the season. I'm quite serious... I've told Mr. Ziegler and others this a million times... The "Happiness, Inc." that comes to Great River is MAGICAL. They bring something to that Adler Theatre stage that I've never seen any other show choir replicate... and hundreds of show choirs have performed on that stage over the last eight years. I have no qualms about predicting them in the top five. They always come prepared and with their "A" game. This year is no different.
