Nothern Lights might be going...I'm not sure yet though, it depends upon if our conert choir wants to go or not...so, maybe!

As far as the judges I only know of a couple. Robert Jones, Jerry Gleason, John Clark and Marti Lindvahl(?sp). I know there a couple of others as there are live critiques after each performance.

I've never heard of any of these judges.

Anyone know anything about the judges at this competition, and about finals scoring (is it a simple ranking system or is it a point-category based system)?

According to the rule book sent to your directors it is both. I am taking this right out of the rule book.. " The same adjudication form will be used for both preliminaries and finals. Each judge will determine a first place, second place etc. The ranking points will be added together to determine the outcome. Awards for best Vocals and Choreography will be determined by point totals on the score sheet, but not limited to these points."

I can make predictions because I have seen all the groups who I think will make finals! YAY!!!

Grand Champion- Onalaska
1st Runner Up- Sauk Prairie
2nd Runner Up- Davenport West
3rd Runner Up- Mayville
4th Runner Up- Holmen
5th Runner Up- Milton

Best Vocals- Sauk Prairie
Best Choreography- Onalaska
Best Band- Onalaska

Well... I really could honestly see 1st RU-3rd RU being a variety of different variations. I just used my noggin and knowledge of previous competitions this season to base my results. I also think if New London, Altoona, or Brodhead really step it up... they all could make it. I think Milton is going to need to be spot on to make it in... they go pretty early. I hope that Onalaska's vocals have improved, otherwise, I could maybe see them placing lower.

Why Sauk over Mayville after Mayville just won over Sauk at New London you ask??? I have a feeling Sauk Prairie is ready to wage "War" and receive their "Glory" (referring to their song "War and Glory" in their show... you know you suck at small puns when you need to point them out) haha

I can't believe this competition is next weekend already! It's going to be a LONG day! My predictions for finals are (in no order):

Mayville
Sauk Prairie
Onalaska
Milton
Davenport West
New London

It's going to be a close call! There are so many good groups performing that I could easily add many more to this list if we could! Good luck to everyone! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

is it odd to suddenly say that i am PUMPED for this competition?
yes it will be a terribly long day...but i just can't wait.

jwalkejflkjawlekjflkjawef
thats how i feel.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say this is because it will be a rematch against you guys and Mayville.

Besides that, this looks to be another great competition with a lot of talented groups... oh, do I wish I could go.
I'm not really sure I want to take a guess at finalists, but here I go:
(alphabetical order)
Altoona
Davenport West
Mayville
Milton
Onalaska
Sauk Prairie

lets just begin by me saying this:
im officially NOT excited to get up for this competition.
i am involved in the YTBN Band and our school didnt approve for us to leave friday and spend the night so we wouldnt have to get up at FOUR A.M.
yes thats right, alyssa will be getting out of her bed exactly at that time. leaving the school at 4:30, and 2 hours later dragging my butt into Logan High.

if im crabby that day..i will be crabby that day actually. hug me if you see me?
pooper

That'd be weird if Western Dubuque was EAST of Dubuque

I meant to type about 20 miles west of Dubuque.

I know they are from Epworth, Iowa, in Western Dubuque County. Looking at the map they are west of Dubuque.
