awesome competition! all the groups i saw were awesome!!!
i really thought it was going to go like this

Totino
Kennedy
Jefferson or Hastings
Fort

Totino- You guys were by far, from what i thought the best group there today. so much different from last year! your finals performance knocked my socks off! amazing! im very surprised you didnt win. i loved your second song!

Kennedy- Awesome! you guys rocked! vocally amazing! your closer was great!

Jefferson- i think you guys had the best set tonight! everything worked awesome together! with a little tweaking choreographically i think you'll have a solid show!

Fort- i love your costumes! soloist...amazing!

hastings will be quite the competition next week!!!!!!!

A few more stats:

Vocal Scores:

Kennedy 541
Totino 539
Hastings 527
Jefferson 519
Fort 504
Holmen 445

Choreography

Kennedy 437
Totino 430
Hastings 421 TIE
Jefferson 421
Fort 416
Holmen 365

Other

Kennedy 222
Totino 213
Hastings 210
Fort 209
Jefferson 208
Holmen 182

One judge changed the scores dramatically, without that judges scores for any of the groups, Totino would have been ahead in every category, and won the competition. The judge had them 5th choreographically, 3rd Vocally, and tied for 5th in the other category.

Like I said before about Totino, I've seen the show this year, and love it! Don't let this get to you, especially in these circumstances!

That said- scores fell as they fell and no one can change that. Obviously Bloomington Kennedy has improved over the years and a big congrats to them.

Hey guys...we just got back. and I probably shouldn't be awake, but I had to see what the reactions were to today. So yea...I'm seeing some Totino negativety (as well as some general negativity for other groups) up here. Its normal to feel jipped when things don't go your way. Everyone wants to win, right? But please try your hardest not to come on here and start complaining about other shows without some constructive criticism included.

As results go, I was surprised, but not in complete shock. I really enjoyed Kennedy's show, and they did an amazing job. We were a little sad, like usual, but I think what really made it worse was the negativity that followed afterward. I heard some groups chanting, "Totino didn't win, totino didn't win!", dissing our school, dissing our show right in front of us, and nearly trampling one of our members while Kennedy was celebrating. It hurts to be put down--you all know that. As a choir, we do our best to be good sports the whole time, at the comp and back at home. For some reason there is some anger towards our group, and I was hoping that someone could explain it to me so I could pass that on to the rest of the group?

Anyway, congratulations to everyone, because every show that I saw was really quite good. Its amazing what a few years can do to increase the talent of every group. I can't wait to see a lot of you at Hastings next weekend. It's bound to be another good competition.

Yay Cam for giving me my props. This was an interesting competition for sure, and my predictions were totally off...but that is why I am just an auidence member and not a judge.

And the harmonica player from Kennedy was amazing x 2039845029850235802375. I couldn't even watch the last part of your show because I was so excited about the harmonica.

I watched almost 1/2 of Class A and like 90% Of the AA groups. That was a heck of a competition. Good job. I loved both Bloomington groups, but then again they were finalists I wasn't seeing for the 6th time. WHEW. I really should go to bed.

hmm i went to the competiton today to cheer on my fellow NSP homies from past years me being an alumni and all now. it was weirdd. just like sittin back and watching. after seeing all the shows today.. i would have to say im not surprised one bit how finals turned out ( of course i would have liked to see NSP in finals but thats just biased thinking) as far as totino goes this year.. idk .. this is probably my least favorite show from them, and probably the least entertaining i have seen. idk it just didnt do it for me.. that actually goes for the majority of choirs i saw today... just a lot of .. not 'random' stuff, but more so like gag's or songs that i just didnt quite understand. its alright though cuz i had a fun time! i enjoyed myself a lot. the only problem i had with this comp.. and the last time i was there my junior year two years ago.. is it seems like the chaperones are just insanely cranky and annoyed with all the kids.. and it rubs off in the social skills. idk must be somethin in the water. other than that i think its a well run competition! congrats to all the groups today and a even bigger congrats to bloomington kennedy on an awesome win at the end! well not the end.. since you were first all day! woop woop

I forgot to congratulate Mr. Jack Shuknecht on his Best Male Soloist award. You're an amazing vocalist! (I really am considering buying the MadHatter's CD because I love Fort's ballad so much.)

I did see both Bloomingtons, but I had a really bad migraine for the whole second half of the day so some of the show choirs were a bit of a blur to me. pinch.gif Sorry Kennedy and Jefferson, I thought you were both excellent. Also, the Car Wash soloist was definitely a best soloist contender - you rock my socks off.

Plus I spent finals lying down in a quiet room, then frantically applying all of my makeup in 10 minutes.

Congrats to absolutely everybody today! Seriously, I was just blown away. My opinions on a few groups:

Midwest Magic: You guys are awesome! I love love love all of your soloists and those red dresses are hot.

Northern Lights: I personally really liked your show; you had a lot of energy and your ballad definitely made me cry. I could never hear soloists though - I'm sure the four guys singing Candyman would have been a lot funnier if I could have heard them. I hope you guys come back next year!

Midwest Express: Somehow, I didn't feel like the mikes were really working for you this year...miked groups are stellar only if they take advantage of their particular medium. So do whatever you need to do to sound your best; fast, bubbly vibrato was definitely not doing it for me. The end of the show seemed to have a definite drop in vocal energy.

Totino: The second half of your show was hilarious. The first part, I was going, "Huh?" Those Disney, bubbly pop vocals were really annoying, as was what seemed to be apparent facial insincerity (only for the first two songs) - a lot of girls had these knowingly fake chewing-gum smiles, I swear. It was creeping me out. Your soloists rocked, and everything else from there was freakin' amazing.

Fort Atkinson: At first I hated the second dress you guys wore, but then it grew on me. Not really much I wanna say, I guess blushing.gif

We loved performing for you guys, even though it was a bit of a ...debacle for some of us, and the 2/3 sub band didn't help either.

I hope everyone who came had a good time; we try our best to make this the kind of competition we'd want to go to. That said, do you guys have any suggestions for Winterfest next year?

I take it from your comments that you did not see the Grand Champion choir?

Night time scores went on points:

Kennedy (1200)
Totino Grace (1182)

Don't know the rest of the points. But did hear that two of the judges had Totino scored the highest. At night, one judge had Totino scored 26 points below Kennedy, which secured the win for Kennedy.

Congrats to all.

Totino- Keep your heads up! Don't let one person's opinion (in this case) bring you down. I'm sure i'll see a good showing next weekend.

well some of the groups that beat us well they lacked in overall performance. they didnt seem into their show and seemed bored. Also their vocals werent very great neither. so idk

Have you seen your own group live to compare your vocal quality with theirs? If you're performing I doubt it....I think that if you put hard work and 110% at every rehearsal and work on cleaning your choreography and some vocal things, you guys can become a better group. Your biggest problem probably was your inconsistency in your show. Your ballad was sung fairly well, but every other song you would stumble in entrances and cutoffs. Choreographically, your opener was the cleanest and it went down hill from there. You have to just keep going at it. If you do, you will become the group you hope to be some day. Everyone likes to think that their own group should be placed higher, but really, you never get to see your own group live to compare it. Please realize that I think you're a decent group, and your finally starting to come onto the scene (i've seen you the last 4 years) so congrats on improving every year, this is your best year, by far.

I know that the finalists placed above you... I meant 7th and 8th.

I'm going to take a wild stab and say that 7th was Altoona and 8th was Chippewa Falls?

That also means that Tomah placed 10th.
