Last time I checked, every synchronized movement onstage is considered choreography. The dramatic leans in the second number were extremely effective- and yes, they are considered choreography. Not to mention, the last few numbers in Albertville's show had some intense Mike Weaver stuff.

I think they deserved everything they got 100 percent.

I've heard a lot of people say that what they did was not show choir. Really? In what restrictions does it say that show choir is 5 distinct songs performed by sparkly girls and suit-clad guys? They had the best choral show of the night, and performed a jaw-dropping show. That is what the heart of show choir is my friends.

So, last night was amazing. All the groups were amazing in finals. For sure Albertville and Petal were awesome. I loved Petal's show. They had the best "show choir" show considering up against Albertville having an amazing musical on stage. Petal did not do to bad behind Albertville. They were 6 points behind in the overall score. The ballod for Petal was the best at the competition, although they were a little sluggish in the beginning of finals in the opener, but when Paparazzi started they really got some energy going. The second group of guys need a lot of work and those white shirts do nothing for them on stage. It would look sweet with like some cool hang out white button up shirts like "Company" guys had. I would think it to be cool if the guys wore converse in the closer because of their black pants and the coats. Did anyone else think that Albertville had a more weird show this year. I thought they had amazing vocals but winning choreography I don't think should have happened. They don't DANCE a lot. It is just a lot of ballod stuff. Also, did anyone else notice that Petal had the most difficult show choreography based and that no one else did lifts in their show except for Petal? Anyway, I thought everyone did and for sure NE under the circumstances. Great job everyone!

First off.... I feel weird posting on this forum again.... but I've been reading a couple of posts, and I get a little irked when it comes to a few things.

When did THE rule book on show choir get written?
Is this "DANCE" choir,.... or "SHOW" choir?
Why does a group have to do lot's of crazzy fast movement for it to be considered dance?

With these simple yet thought provoking questions in mind, reflect on Albertville's show.

I saw their show about 7-8 weeks ago, and yes, I thought it was strange. Mike Weaver even asked what my first thoughts were imediately after watching it, and I told him I thought it was, "A strange 'Sweeney Todd' esque turning into a strange eighties rock jam kind of thing." However, they did dance, sing, act, and PERFORM well. I don't think "clinton-like" choreography would have been appropriate for the song selections, and obviously neither did the judges who awarded them the "choreography" award. I guess I'll just be quiet again.... Peace.... Oh, and thanks for catching the ballod vs ballad thing...

We did lift's in our show.. Just saying ha and this is how I would have predicted finals after watching all the groups and our video

GC-Albertville
1st RU- US
2nd RU- NE
3rd RU- Petal
4th RU-Homewood

Petal's show was just.. just.. and during the balad when you heard the wheels squeak it ruined it..

Homewood's show started out to slow for me it didn't just pop out at you and it just bored me..

Albertville- Wow.. you shouldn't have gotten best choreo IMO seeing as how you guys just walk around alot and sing but your vocals were great..

NE-This was amazing I was extremely mad when you guys did not make finals..

Well, I am now FULLY awake and somewhat recovered from the wonderful "show choir antics" we all participated in yesterday! I had an ABSOLUTE AMAZING time yesterday, and I just want to congratulate EVERY SINGLE GROUP that performed yesterday! It was a wonderful and VERY WELL ORGANIZED competition, and for that, I congratulate EVERY PERSON from South Jones H.S. and Jones County Junior College! I hope everyone has a great week of practice this week, and I can't wait to see everyone at the Diamond Classic this coming Saturday!!!!!!

Hey guys! I was going to post last night but my internet wasn't working when I got home.

Every group was absolutely amazing! I'm going to post my thoughts on some of my favorites.

Albertville- HOLY CRAP. I've never felt that way watching a show choir live. They were absolutely outstanding. Major props to your director, students, and choreographer for putting together such a beautiful work of art. If you guys competed in the midwest or California, you would kick some serious butt.

Northeast- You guys had my second favorite show of the night. Disturbia was nothing short of jaw dropping. I'm so proud of what you have accomplished in Doc's absence. In my opinion, you guys deserved to place, and certainly deserved to make finals over two groups that did.

Wayne County- Though we did not place, I am so proud of my group. This year's first competition was drastically different than any performance we've ever had. I'm so honored to work with this group of people my senior year. You guys are great- almost everything that went wrong was not your fault. We've got a lot of work to do in the next few weeks, but never forget that I love you guys and you make me proud.

And the choreographer award goes to Mike Weaver. Every group that had that "wow" effect on me was choreographed by him. He is an absolute genius for creating things like Albertville's show, Disturbia, and Paparazzi. Somebody mail him a trophy.

Almost everyone has taken show choir up a notch this year. It was an absolutely great day of show choir. The best part of the day was the dance off before the final awards. I love the Jackson Academy kids.

Thank you South Jones, Mr. McKenzie, parents, and students for making this one of the best southern competitions each year.

Sorry, dear. Not unless there's someone else there with the capabilities to UStream who is willing to do so. I doubt I'd do that even if I were there....who wants to try to hold their phone still for a 20 minute show? haha
