I honestly cant make a good prediction right now. Too many biases and I havent seen the rumored awesomeness of Milton yet (which is sad, seeing as I've had two opportunities already.) But I'm hoping that MG can get it together and clean up our show some before the competition. I know that everyone in Silver C wants to move up to 1RU from 2RU at Onalaska, and we've got a week and a half left. So I guess we'll see.

Until someone can actually beat them, GCS will be the class of the state. No WI groups have beaten them, I believe, while I have been involved in show choir

Unless a group conjures up some Felix Felicis in their potions class and gives it to each of their members

I don't think people should take GCS so lightly. They were directed in the earlier part of the season by Nancy Allen, who's a very good teacher, and now they're directed by an alum of Cedar Rapids Jefferson. It's quite odd for me to think of them finishing in 4th.

OHS express in class a and well of course everyone wants to get grand champion lol who doesnt but i think that we are really good this year. and the whole situation of not making finals at monona was a downer but its is true when they sasy ll the little stuff adds up :[ an the rumors are true we were a couple points away from making finals even with our penaltes for people jumping off stage. WE are thinking about modifying our show a bit so hopefully we will do really good. this should be a super fun competition and i wish evryone the best

A judge from Monona Grove, Ben Schrank, posts on here occasionally, and specifically said that Onalaska was not penalized, and no other groups were either. It makes me wonder how that rumor got started, because many people from Onalaska, both parents and students, seem to think it is true.

I had the final two spots at MG being a tossup between Eau Claire, Fort Atkinson and Onalaska, and I thought Eau Claire and Onalaska should have been the ones to get in, but obviously Fort was chosen instead.

Good luck, I'd love to see Onalaska and Monona Grove go 1-2 at Sauk (in either order) but I don't see that happening without a fair amount of improvement by both groups. Now that I'm several years removed from high school, I basically just like to see the best group win, no matter who they are. Right now that is Milton, unless La Crosse Central just blows everyone out of the water like they often did in the earlier part of the decade.

Well, since the trend so far has been some pretty lofty predictions, I suppose I'll continue that trend.

I predict:

GC: Milton (Sweep)
1RU: GCS
2RU: Onalaska
3RU: Monona Grove
4RU: Preble
5RU: Neenah

People seem to be pretty low on Milton right now. I wish I could have seen them in person, but Preview Night was moved back and I couldn't attend. I don't have a lot to go off of to make predictions, but it's been a long time since GCS has lost to a WI group, and has been strong for the entire time I've been involved in show choir.

This is gonna be a great competition and all of us are really excited! haha I'm not gonna lie though, I'm not excited to be there uberearly to host Monona Grove's girls haha. Oh well, my choice. But I love how we have so many more choirs this year than last (Last year there were a total of like 10)!

Here's My prediction:

GC: GCS
1stRU: Onalaska or Mayville
2ndRU: Onalaska or Mayville
3rdRU: Monona Grove
4thRU: Reedsburg
5thRU: New London

And I'm not sure about OHS Express's class, but I'll try to find out.

GC Monona Grove or Onalaska
2nd RU Minton
3rd RD Neenah
4th RU La Crosse Central
5th RU Mayville

You must not have seen Milton then. After watching all three shows on Saturday, I can say that Milton is definitely better than Monona Grove or Onalaska at this point in time, and I say that as someone who went to Monona Grove and has a family member performing for Onalaska.

Of course, it is possible that Monona Grove and Onalaska will improve more than Milton over these next two weeks, and do better than Milton. It is equally possible that Milton improves more and runs away with the championship. We will just have to wait and see.

I'm actually semi-thinking about going to this one if I don't work next weekend and if I decide not to go to our school dance

I think I will say:

GC La Crosse Central
1st RU Milton
2nd RU Monona Grove
3rd RU Onalaska
4th RU Mayville
5th RU Green Bay Preble

I think these 6 will make finals, but I wouldn't put Preble worse than 4th RU. And actually, I might put them up at 2nd RU, depending on their performance and how the judges react to their show. I personally disagreed with their placement at Colby, but maybe I'm too easily swayed by my personal likes

If Janesville Craig were there and if Sauk Prairie was able to compete than it could be sort of like a Wisconsin state show choir contest!

I think I will say:

GC La Crosse Central (edit: they have not competed yet, but they always seem to be in contention for the top spot everywhere)
1st RU Milton
2nd RU Monona Grove
3rd RU Onalaska
4th RU Mayville
5th RU Green Bay Preble

I wish Fort Atkinson were attending, then we could have an "Unofficial Badger South Conference Championship" with Milton, MG, and Fort. Unfortunately it does not appear that all three schools will ever be competing at the same competition this year.

It would be pretty evenly matched, especially if Fort continues to improve at the rate they did between prelims and finals (yesterday at Monona Grove).

This should be good. I kind of like the fact there aren't any out of state choirs, it lets WI choirs see each other and compete against each other. In my mind GCS and Milton were the best WI choirs last season, and my friends from Milton are very excited about this season. So I'm very excited to see what happens

So this competition kinda looks like a big deal, and Preble's definitely excited for their first year. Milton and GCS are already confirmed, and I've heard tons of Wisconsin choirs are coming. Any out-of-staters?
It should be fun regardless, methinks... thoughts? predictions?
