So I've seen videos of Nationals that have lighter wood floors and virtually no lighting (you can see the background set for the Grand Ole Opry) and more recent videos of dark wood floors and dark back-lighting and blue accent-lighting. Do we know if they are keeping the more recent changes?
The darker theater was not in the actual Opry House. During one or two of the past years, the Opry had concerts at the House on the days that SCN would have held Prelims so they used a different theater.
Eisenhower was supposed to go to nationals but it looks like they've dropped and it was just easier to leave us on Thursday. But performing on Friday would be nice! Pekin is leaving at like 5 Thursday morning so yeah. :p

Why are Urbandale and Pekin on a completely different day than the rest of the mixed groups? That is stupid...

Sauk Prairie Wisconsin is totally psyched to go this year!!!!! The last time we went to Nationals was with our Big River show and this year everybody thinks we're almost as good!
Anyway - it appears they have posted the performance schedule at their web site:
http://www.showchoirnationals.com/
And in other news, I'm officially going to be there (not that anyone cares other than me!). Looking forward to it - I've just heard so many good things about this contest, and I gotta say - their admission price set up makes a WHOLE lot more sense than, um - some other national event I've been to...
My thought is what other sport, event, or anything stays in the same city every year? Look at the Olympics, Super Bowl, NCAA tourney, etc. I know the "Historical aspect" of the Grand Ole Opery is important to a lot of people but you could do it at other historical places too. That way you could say I performed at the Grand Ole Opery, The Radio City Music Hall, The Chicago Theatre, etc. I'm not saying not to do it in Nashville but rotating the location every year would be really neat.
KEVDOUG...have you ever been to SCN, or Nashville for that matter? If not, then I can assure you that you would NEVER step foot in any better venue than the Grand Ole Opry! Period, end of story. That is why SCN never moves....just ask anyone who has performed on that stage.
True. There is no better feeling than to perform on that particular stage! Nashville is a culturally diverse and Arts rich city! I called Nashville, TN my home for 6 years and absolutely loved it. I still love it today!

I mean all that Cleveland has is Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and University Circle (a bunch of museums), and Playhouse Square (3rd Oldest Theatre District in the USA).
