That's the same one I posted... It is most certainly from last year.

That's the thing about show choir. It ALWAYS depends on the judging panel.

QUOTE (john.sc @ Feb 23 2015, 12:04 AM) *

A judging panel has been selected to choose who has the best choreography and it will come down to who executes the best on that given day.)

I tend to agree with John on this. I mean, one can say it depends on the judging panel in the sense that they have to show up and follow their template in order to determine who has more points... without judges there might not be any placement awards. So yes a lot is dependent upon them...

But I think sometimes we get caught up in saying "it depends on the judging panel" way too often ... For competitions that feature massive line-ups that are deep with national powerhouses, I can understand that statement (look no further than FAME Nationals, Show Choir Nationals, Los Alamitos, Fairfield, etc., it's very clear sometimes when you're THAT good it then boils down to judges' styles). However, for your run of the mill competition my tendency is to simply trust the judges. They're (most of the time) exceptionally qualified individuals that are capable of making sound judgments. Sometimes the best group is simply the best group, because they're the better group, not because of judges' preference.

With that being said, I don't have any predictions in the Wheaton Warrenville South vs. Homewood discussion. My point is more of a general one.

Argh, I personally think it's harder to choose best soloist between Amanda Disney and Ryan Kirby (?!?!?!?) than it is to choose best show choir between Homewood and Wheaton.

Question: does Petal usually award Best Female/Male Soloist or just Best Soloist?

In the past I think it has been just best soloist, but don't quote me on that.

I see Wheaton winning this. It will be close no matter what.

Fun fact of the day: Go look at the results. The only "BC" caption Homewood won was best costumes

Not sure why this really matters when the competition is set in 2015 and not 2014 haha.
My Predictions (Which are sure to be laughably wrong):
GC/1RU: WWS (BC)
GC/1RU: Homewood (BV)
2RU: Brandon
3RU: Grenada
4RU: Oak Grove/Jackson Prep
Not going to pick between Top 2 because of my bias.

Predictions:

GC: Wheaton (BV/BC/OE/BB)
1RU: Homewood (Best Soloist)
2RU: Enterprise
3RU: Jackson Prep
4RU: Grenada

This is going to be an extremely close competition! However I do believe Wheaton will beat out Homewood. Though (BV/OE/Best Soloist) could all be switched between the two of them. Overall this is going to be one heck of a competition and I wish everybody the best of luck.

Yes, it's fun to make predictions and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. A judging panel has been selected to choose who has the best choreography and it will come down to who executes the best on that given day. It isn't necessary to argue over.

From what I've seen this year, if Homewood has any chance to steal a caption, it will be vocals. But like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I said prelins, which were not given out. In finals, Wheaton got Choreography, Homewood got it in prelins.

Wheaton has lost best choreo twice to two top show choirs in the Midwest by a couple mere points. Homewood is just not quite at the performing and delivering level as Wheaton. Not to say homewood is not great at what they do and that they dance extremely well. It's just they are not at the same level.

I concur, but fun fact of the day: Homewood beat Wheaton in Choreography during prelims at Albertville (or maybe that was OE).

You aren't... I have them at GC (but as a tie with Wheaton broken by the BV caption)

It depends a lot on the Judges Panel... My predictions will be very wrong if there is a super traditional panel. But from previous match ups this only makes sense.
