No, we were lucky that all but one small community in Cabell County was not affected by the chemical spill. Thanks for asking though

I believe Capital has dropped out of this competition due to the WV chemical spill that still has their county's schools closed. Please pray for the WV schools and their choirs who have been affected by this disaster.

Sad to hear about the bad things this chemical spill has dawned on WV. Did the spill affect you at all at Cabell?

Anyone know of show themes this year for any of the choirs competing here? Just curious.

Ravenswood's theme is "Nautical"

I have a feeling Colerain can take this one.

I'm in agreeance.

Or Cabell Midland

I had that same feeling. I just didn't want to be the only one to say it.

Or Capital - sometimes they are top-notch as well. Truthfully who knows? First competition out, anything can happen. But you guys are probably right. I mean, there are only 8 choirs to choose from! May the odds be ever in your prediction favor.

Let's bring a half dead thread back. Predictions anyone? Who will come out on top and who will fall short? If I remember correctly this competition does NOT have finals.

Portsmouth Tri-State Show Choir Competition
Jan. 18th, 2014

Performance Schedule

11:15 River Valley (B)
12:00 Ravenswood (B)
12:45 Riverside (A)
1:30 Herbert Hoover (B)
Break
2:30 William Henry Harrison (A)
3:15 Cabell Midland (A)
4:00 Capital (A)
4:45 Colerain (A)

So as you can see it's quite a small competition which is pretty typical for Tri-State. It's difficult to compete with the likes of Beavercreek and Piqua also hosting major competitions the same day. I think Portsmouth would find much more success if they either shifted Tri-State a week earlier or a week later so as not to have 3 Ohio competitions on the same day. Speaking of Tri-State, I don't totally understand why it's called "Tri-State" as this is at least the 5th consecutive competition (not sure how many there have been total?) with only two states represented (OH & WV). Oh well, I guess names really aren't that important.

Thanks to Matt for sending me the schedule!
