I'm getting a little tired of people thinking that states is the ultimate say so as to which five groups are the best in the state. I agree that something unexpected always happens at states because the whole competition is a little screwy. The entire format of the states competition needs to be reconsidered. Has anyone noticed that fewer high school choirs show up each year for this competition? Capital, Princeton, Winfield, Herbert Hoover, Ripley? These groups use to be regulars at states. There is a reason why these groups have decided to sit this competition out.
i agree with that to an extent. as for right now, it is the ultimate deciding factor. but its not necessarily fair. i think the groups that dont come, dont becuz they know they cant win or like in winfields case, they usually have sumthing better to do (dont blame them at all). I think states should be like a complete finals competition. West Virginia groups should have to win or place well in certain qualifying competitions to be eligible to compete in states. If you place like in the top 6 at a competition in WV or sumthing like that then u can come to states. I think Indiana does sumthing like that. It would certainly make the day alot shorter and all the groups would be more comparable, but i concede that states definitely should be revamped
hmmm. I wouldnt be surprised if something like this would happen, i just don't see nitro being up that far. no offense. I could see St. Albans, Martinsburg, or Cabell Midland all in 1Runner Up position, but i dont think thatll happen with Nitro. but maybe u can prove me wrong
I don't understand how someone "just" joins showchoir.com today and immediately starts to down Nitro...If I took it the wrong way, then I apologize. Just an observation.

Does anyone know who the judges are. I have heard a director from twinsburg and mr...um starts with a c...crandall? maybe..anyone know otheres?
probably Nancy Slife from Twinsburg(she's good). If it's Crandall, it'd be Mike Crandall former director of Teays Valley(also very good). Mike judged at Poca. He also judged States in 2005
there are NO finals at states. Which is why everyone always goes crazy over performance times.
no second chances..you either get it on the first try or too bad.. i kinda like that b/c then its just done &&
theres none of the "..well maybe we can just do it better in finals.."
Does anyone know why we don't have finals at states?
well, the reason used to be there were just way too many groups and the day went on forever as it was...but the past 3/4 years that wasn't a problem...so I really don't know.

well i guess someone has to go first && if they left it up to the groups everyone would want to be last .. its gonna be a 3-4 hr drive for us but i know other groups travel even further.. i just dont prefer performing so early b/c i want everyone to see us perform && have the biggest crowd as possible since ppl will be arriving after we perfrom--but its ok, we'll deal! =)
&& are there preliminaries and finals for this competition?
