CG: You guys always have a great sound, and energetic choreography, but it's hard for me to look forward to your shows when I see the same show every year. I love watching this group, but I just haven't found anything new to enjoy about them for a while, which leaves sort of a bland feeling after seeing the show. Your vocals were superior, and you definitely deserved that caption award! Technically, you guys definitely deserved the win. Congratulations!

Dekalb: Out of all the shows in finals, I enjoyed you guys the most! I was kind of surprised to see your show style change up a little this year, which is a good thing. I don't think the singing is quite to the level that last year's group sang, which was hard to beat, but I'm sure you guys will be matching them as the season progresses! You guys definitely gave the most energetic performance of the night, and I felt you deserved best choreography for sure. When watching the groups, i felt like Dekalb had the best "general effect" of all the groups in finals and delivered the best overall package in terms of show, however on paper a 2nd place trophy was probably appropriate.

Northrop: I always love your guys' shows. Sooo much energy and excitement. You can really feel the excitement coming off the stage with you guys. You do sing really well this year as well. It looked like you had 15 or more people on stage than Dekalb and Center Grove though, which means it's hard to compare you guys vocally, because they sing just as well with not as many people. While your show is very entertaining and energetic, it dosn't look like it required near the stamina demanded by CG and Dekalb's shows. You guys are a great group with a good all around package, I just don't think that package was enough to compete with the groups in 1st and 2nd place last night.

My thoughts on finals:

Northrop: Loved the show. It looked great and it sounded great. I liked the show better than DeKalb's, but I don't think that you were robbed by getting third. It was a close, close decision, I'm sure.

ETC: I had to take a restroom break and unfortunately didn't make it back in time to watch the finals show. The day show was good, though. I wasn't sure what to think because I'd never heard of you guys, but the show was fine.

Dwenger: shocked me. You all are on a much better level than last year. The only thing that annoyed me was the transition into the ballad where all the instruments came to the front of the stage. It was very awkward. I liked the effect of having the orchestra in front for that number, but it simply took too long to get there and it was awkward getting back to the next number. I know with your backdrops it would be difficult to change it to something more like what DeKalb did and have them on the back row to save time and make for a smoother and quicker transition, so I don't know how to fix it, but it needs it. In my opinion, you would have been over ETC if it weren't for that transition.

Center Grove: What can I say about CG Sound System? Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT. The guys number was fantastic again this year, and I really enjoyed the "I Surrender" soloist. There isn't much more to say. Definite winners in my book.

DeKalb: Is always good. I'm not in love with their style, for some reason, but I can recognize a ton of hard work and talent when its in front of me. It may not have been my favorite show, but talent wise, the placing was spot-on.

Sorry, but I'm not sure if my director would be the happiest if we gave away the secret. We like to keep the magic alive. ;)

I hope everyone had a great time at our invo!

But I want to talk directly to Columbia City. I know there's been some bad feelings between us in the past, and, yes, even now. But I really hope that can be put behind us; there's no good reason for it. I can't do much about what my peers say and do and think, but I really hope you guys had fun yesterday; despite the small let down, you guys still had a great show! If you continue to improve, you'll have a good year. The best of luck for the rest of the season, and I hope to compete with you in the finals in the future!

I agree. Lets all be friends.
