Yeah I can see exactly why they would compete in our division and I have no problem with it, but I thought it should have been announced beforehand. Also, didn't North Forest have less than 20, but they still were judged with the Middle Division...correct me if I'm wrong on that.

But you guys really deserved GC! Ya'll were AMAZING.

And I wanna thank West Jones. The competition went extremely smooth and it was a really enjoyable day! The space was limited, but somehow they made it work almost perfectly. Thank you for an amazing competition!

Oh yeah...and our hostess, Cassie, was AMAZING. I met her this summer at SCA and was thrilled when she told me she was our hostess. She really helped out tremendously, even helping us repair a backdrop for our girl's group. I hope she can be our hostess next year too.

Congrats to everyone!

I'm proud of my group and that we've received 2nd runner up. We did not perform our best, so I'm not upset that we received that award.

But I do believe the Small Mixed awards were unfair to my choir and every other choir involved for this reason:
Columbus has been announced to participate with the Middle Division.
In the program, they were listed with the Middle Division.
They performed in order with the Middle Division.
However, when it came time to judge, they were judged with the Small Division.
To my group and every group in the Small Division, it was a complete slap in the face during awards when Columbus was announced in our division. It was extremely hard onstage to hide my surprise when I was expecting another great show choir originally in our division, such as Gautier, to be called in that place.
I'm not blaming Columbus at all. I believe Columbus did outstanding and they deserved it 100%!!!
I believe this was a problem with organization. I would have no problem at all if it was publically announced beforehand and if every director was alerted of the change before competition started. Surprises like that should not be left for the awards ceremony.
It was just a glitch, but I hope for future competitions, problems like that can be avoided.*

Congratulations to Columbus and Pearl River for their outstanding job yesterday as well as everyone who performed!

*this is just MY opinion, and it does not in anyway reflect the opinion of my director or show choir.

Yeah...even though we placed ahead of Columbus...before they called out Grand Champion...we were all freaking out...i started shaking really bad lol...i had noticed they only had 19 on stage during their performance but i guess thats why lol....but i guess we cant really complain lol we both had outstanding years this year and good luck to yal next year!!!

Well..... Here is my 2cents! Yall know that no matter what i think about anything, i will NEVER get on here and talk bad about it. As for this weekend, i think that it just shows that everybody can work together and make a competition awesome! Lauren Mizell, Carmen, Mrs Scrimpshire, parents, students and all other volunteers had to overcome some pretty big obstacles to get pull this event off, but with hard work and determination it all came together and i believe it was a success!
All of the groups and directors and parents had to do their part also to make this work. While not one of the best backstage arraingements, dressing space was limited, prop storage was small, all the groups worked together wonderfully! Just goes to show what i have ben saying all along... There is nothing else like show choir! It is a way of life! Put 2 football teams in he same drssingroom and see what happens! What happenned this weekend is what show choir isall about to me, everybody made the best of a situation and when they performed, they left it all on the stage! You gave the audience what they wanted, your best you entetained as weel as competed and it looked tome like eveybod was havng fun onstage!
Congratulations to all the groups, you are all winners to me!

Congrats to West Jones for an amazing job! I know yall were all tired, but you did it! Congrats to the winners!

Thanks for letting me be a part of a great weekend! I am tired, i ot home at 6:20am and took a shower and got ready for church and i have not stopped yet! But it was all worth it for what i got to see on the stage!

Oh yea..... Plus i loved playing Blue man Group and their cell phone and chicken son!! Lol!!!

Hope to se yall soon!

Are you kidding me? I thought ya'll did AMAZING! I was totally entertained throughout your show! You were the only show choir [originally] in our division that I saw and I thought you guys did incredible!

Right now I can't think of any advice on the show choir director thing, but tell her that everyone from Wayne County thinks yall did amazing and we really hope to see you again next year!

Yea we were kinda going wtf. We knew we weren't going to get placed. There were too many things that went wrong for us. Such as the fact our director told us on the bus that what you do today is the last chance to place for the Sensations ever. Thanks for saying that we are great lol. Ya'lls costumes are freakin awsome.

On another note.....how do you convince my director to keep show choir? I'm the only one fighting for it. I have about 6 guys wanting to tryout and about 10 girls. She says she doesn't want to do it anymore because she knows nothing about it.

sweetheart.. gold horizons did get 3rd in finals look at the scores.. scores say it all

I haven't seen the score sheets but when they are announced 5th place that usually doesn't mean they got 3rd... They very well may have tied, but they DID NOT get out right 3rd place... That would belong to the Women's group that beat your women's group... Common sense my dear... Me and a few thousand other people there last night heard GH called out as 4th Runner-up... I was told that they were in 3rd place GOING INTO FINALS, but they placed 5th behind JA and Petal girls IN FINALS... Just drop it... GH didn't get 3rd... That's all there is to it...

Finals Results:

GC: South Jones "Company" (Vocals, Choreography)
1st RU: Petal "Soundsations" (Costumes)
2nd RU: Petal "Innovations"
3rd RU: Jackson Academy "Encore"
4th RU: Northeast Jones "Gold Horizons"

I don't remember who won Combo and Show Design, but I know it was either South Jones or Petal on both, so maybe someone can help me out...

My first thing to say about this competition: WOW... It doesn't get much better than that... Two old Show Choir rivals only about 15 minutes away from one another duking it out for 1st Place... I would have gone crazy if I were a judge trying to decide between "the" Petal Soundsations and "the" South Jones Company...

South Jones: I didn't think you guys could surpass your incredible Prelims performance, but you did by far... I wasn't sure if I was watching South Jones or an old Clinton performance in Finals... This is probably the best South Jones since 2005....

Petal mixed: Holy crap they're good... I was ten times more impressed with your Prelims performance than I was with both Opelika performances... In Finals they were amazing last night, but not quite as good as South Jones... Bethany Fagan gives me chills everytime I hear her sing, and so does the male soloist in their ballad...

Petal girls: Great job... One of the best Women's groups I've ever seen... You girls deserved your placing...

Jackson Academy: This was the first time I saw you guys live, and I was very impressed... They will be a HUGE force to be reckoned with in the future...

Northeast Jones: They have improved a lot since Homewood... I loved the added solo in Music and the Mirror... I though that GH could have gotten 3rd had they matched their Prelims performance...

I apologize for the less than great facilities, (minus the massive auditorium) but it was the best we could do for now... I hope all of the groups, especially Petal and JA, come back next year when we will FINALLY be able to have it in our new auditorium on our school's campus... Thank you to all the groups for bearing with us... And great job to everyone... I can't wait to see all of you next year... Until next January, take care!

Thanks to everyone at West Jones for hosting a wonderful competiton. Our hosts were really nice. Wayne County ya'll were good(beat us by 22 points). Congrats to Pearl River! Once again thanks to West Jones for hosting us in the Sensations last competition ever . Yes...if our director doesn't change her mind there will be no more show choir at Gautier High. Bascially my life will end...

I've got some bad news for all you West Jones fans... Centerstage, Sassy, and Imagination will NOT be performing as exhibition groups this weekend... Instead, we will have a special mini-concert by a broadway performer who's name escapes me... That exhibition will be wonderful I'm sure, but just thought I'd let you know about the sudden changes to the competition...
