First off - CONGRATS to all groups. Quite simply the best collection of talent I have ever seen over a day of Show Choir competition! Second - WAY TO GO Fairfield Combo. Twice you have attended a FAME National Finals and twice you have won BEST COMBO. Real proud of you all!!! Third - Thanks to Marcus and the back stage staff working the ARIE Crown. They were fantastic in managing what looked like a massive cluster. I still find it amazing this competition ran as close to time as it did. A lot of credit goes to Marcus and his team. Other than a few comments heard back stage about ". . .having something to prove. . ." I thought all groups got along great. There is a certain level of comradarie between stage dads and those at this competition were super.
Last - I want to say how much I enjoyed seeing our group "Sing it for the World" one last time. With all the comments this year, both positive and negative, regarding the theme, these performers presented their best show of the year at precisely the right time. Thanks to Jeff, David, Betsy, Randy, Steven, and Josh for putting together such a fantastic and moving show and our Senior Leadership for setting the bar very high and providing the support and direction to our underclass performers.
The kid who did the calculation forget about decimal places and such. It was really 3%, which is still extremely close.
John Burroughs- 1063.5

Aft hearing these, I kinda zoned out and didn't listen to the others. I may be mistaken, but I believe Mt. Zion was somewhere around 960 or 970. Hope this helps.
Just to clarify, Los Al had an overall score of 1062, not 1061 (1.5 points behind Burroughs), and Ankeny had an overall score of 1015.5. Still, very close scorings all around and so many wonderful groups I had the privilege of competing against this past weekend

CORRECTION: Scores were out of 1200. My apologies. I was told the 2000 number at like 3 AM so it's understandable for someone to be mistaken.

I'm not sure if that's all of them, but those are the ones that people posted previously in the forums.
O. M. G. This was hands down the most incredible competition ever! Epic! I was truly blown away. Highlights for me were: Powerhouse - holy wow!, Uniondale - tappers, Jenks Trojanaires - total show and amazing soloists!, Sound Sensations vocals - gorgeous, Los Al - song selection & costumes, and how many amazingly cool people I met. EPIC! AMAZING! BLOWN AWAY!
I find it hard to believe that the best choirs only got around 50% of the points possible.
I found it hard to believe as well, but that's what our director said. I'll check again. Common inference would think it's somewhere more around 1500 or 1200... Whoever told me 2000 said it around 3AM EST, so I'm not gonna fault them for half awake math.

I just saw on Twitter that Fairfield was 0.3% away from 1st. Wow.
I want to know the point spread!

And I believe Los Al and Wheaton pre-plan their sets to share the basic themes though they give them their own unique twists.
I really doubt that Los Al and Wheaton co-ordinate their shows. However, I heard that they are both doing a Sesame Street theme next year, if so then maybe they do co-ordinate.
My thoughts exactly!
Oh Katy, she divided the score that the choir revived out of he totally score possible, when she did so, it indicated that we were only .3 or whatever beind first.. Which doesn't mean much of anything. Lol! But I DO know that it was VERY VERY close between fourth and first. And JB beat Los AL by only a point and half...
Moreover I'm crazy proud to call myself a Choralier and couldn't be happier with our place, or more importantly the performance we had!
Congrats to Burroughs for winning the top honor! I had the opportunity to see their show when Häakon streamed their competition, and it was amazing their soloists are out of this world. Also, can anyone post the point spread? It would be really interesting to see how close the positions were. Congrats to all of the competing choirs! What a great way to end the 2013 season!
Also very, very impressed with Jenks! This competition was razor close and to place in the top level with these groups just shows how great they are and caps off an incredible season for the Trojanaires.
I just have to say congratulations to Jenks, I have heard of but never seen this group. But just to make the top six here is a huge accomplishment!!!
Being said I i wish I could have seen the tops groups tonight.
John Burroughs mixed blows me away with their ability to create a story and still perform in a way that makes the art of show choir something new. I enjoy everything about this set and encourage all people to go to a so cal competition because of the performance aspect that is involved in each and every one of those choirs.
That being said I can't even IMAGINE the show choir goodness that was happening today. Los Alamitos is THE BEST I have EVER seen them. Their story is beyond beautiful and the interpretation they make is just beautiful and sensual. I feel the tension between the characters and the whole story telling by the group blows me aways.
I have not seen ankeny or mt. zion this year, but I know that ankeny had to be performing their hearts out b/c this is the last year that they are all one high school. They have to take extreme pride in the way that they showed how important and invaluable music in our schools is.
And the only other group I have seen a performance from this year is Fairfield. I think the first thing to note about this group is that they had such and early performance time and they still walked off the stage knowing that they gave only their VERY best. I'm proud of the movement of regional show choir and the Farifield Choraliers and their involved team only help to make the show choir genre more diverse.
This competition only made me that more excited for the changes in show choir and the way that it can evolve.
