Richard A. Lunt has taught choral music for seventeen years. He received his BA from Northern Arizona University and his MM degree from Brigham Young University. Rick's choirs, both concert and show choirs, are consistently ranked among the top performing groups in the nation. His expertise in both genres has afforded him opportunities to be a clinician and judge for Heritage Music Festivals, ShowFest, and FAME Show Choir Competitions.
His concert choirs have received Superior ratings at the state level and have received 1st Place in National Music Festivals. His show choirs have received Grand Champion in several national show choir competitions as well as receiving many caption awards such as Best Band, Best Soloists, Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Show Design, & Best Tech Crew. Because his groups received the top scores in show choir, concert choir and jazz choir, his choir program was awarded "Outstanding Musical Program" at Heritage Music Festival two years in a row.
Some of Rick's accomplishments include recognition from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for producing outstanding choral experiences for youth; the KSL News Radio Teacher Feature Award; the National Arts Association Teacher of the Year 2005; Who's Who Among America Teachers 1998-2008; nominated for Disney's American Teacher Awards honoring creativity in teaching; NAU Centennial Year of Education Alumni Award; National Dean's List at EAC and NAU; and Southwestern SPEBSQUA Barbershop Quartet Winner in 1993. He was voted the SFHS National Honor Society's Outstanding Teacher 2005 and RVHS Teacher of the Year in 1999.
He enjoys family outings, dates with his wife and kids, gardening, arranging choral music and show development. Mr. Lunt, his wife Melissa, and 3 children currently reside in Spanish Fork, Utah.
