Amanda Harrison is the Director of Choirs for Ben Davis High School located on the west side of Indianapolis. This is a her seventh year at Ben Davis and twelfth year as a music educator. Her teaching responsibilities at BD include AP Music Theory, Encores, Purple Aires, Preview, Sotto Voce, directing the annual school musical, and serving as the Head Choir Director. Amanda attended Ball State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal and General Music Education and a minor in Spanish.
Currently, Amanda resides on the southeast side of Indianapolis with her husband of nine years and two beautiful daughters (ages three and seven). The Harrison family will grow by another girl this spring, and they are very excited to welcome this addition to their family!
Prior to joining the Performing Arts Department at Ben Davis, Amanda taught middle and high school vocal music and general music for Franklin Community School and Seymour Community School, respectively. During her tenure in Franklin, Amanda's choirs attended the ISSMA Organizational Contest earning gold ratings in prepared music and sight reading and also participated in the Heritage Music Festival in Chicago. Amanda also directed the annual school musical and talent shows for FCSC. More recently, she taught general music and high school vocal music for Seymour High School in Seymour, Indiana. During this time, Amanda's ensembles attended the ISSMA Organizational Contest earning gold ratings in prepared music and sight reading and participated in the "Rock The Boat" Carnival Cruise line and "Circle the State with Song" festivals, respectively.
Amanda is enjoying her time in Wayne Township Schools and deeply appreciates the support, dedication, and work ethic of both students and staff alike. "We Are Wayne! Great Schools: Great Community!"
