Kathy Skinner was born in Montevideo, Uruguay to Baptist Foreign Missionaries.
She grew up in a bilingual home, and was educated both in Uruguay and the
United States. She is married to Noel Skinner, program manager for Wyle Life Sciences.
She has two sons, Nathan and Brandon, and a daughter-in-love, Emily who
is married to Nathan. Both of Mrs. Skinners’ boys went through the TCHS Choral program during their High School years.

Mrs. Skinner received her BS in Education and Music from Baylor University in 1982. She has been teaching for 31 years. Mrs. Skinner came to Texas City High School in 2001 as the Assistant Choral Director, where she worked with Janie Ray, Choral Director for 12 years.
Mrs. Skinner was named head Choral Director at Texas City High School in July 2013.

As Assistant Choral Director Mrs. Skinner taught the non-varsity choirs. From 2001-2010 these were mixed groups. In 2010-2011 school year the non-varsity choirs at Texas City High School became gender groups: Men’s Non-Varsity Choir and Women’s Non- Varsity Choir. Mrs. Skinner’s non-varsity women earned“Sweepstakes” status in 2011 and 2012 under her direction. In 2014 the TCHS Master Chorale earned“Sweepstakes” at UIL for the 4th year in a row.

Mrs. Skinner enjoys cooking, crafts, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Skinner’s most treasured aspect of her job is the long-lasting relationships she has with her students. She feels called to the teaching profession, and she teaches students to enjoy and perform choral music so that they can have memorable “musical moments” that will be life-changing and that they will always remember.
