Drew Firkins is a freelance composer/arranger based out of Lincoln, NE. He is currently finishing his degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he is studying Music Education and Composition, as well as a minor in Music Technology. Drew studied composition at UNL for three years under Dr. Greg Simon and one year under Dr. Kurt Knecht.
In four years as a professional arranger, he has worked for over twenty high school and collegiate show choirs in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Ohio, New Mexico, and Alabama. Drew served as a band director for the Millard West High School show bands for two years, and currently serves as the student director with the UNL Big Red Singers collegiate show choir. He served as the music director of the acclaimed all-male a cappella group the Bathtub Dogs for three years, and is currently working on an album with them for release in late 2019. His ensemble experience is extensive, having been a member of the Nebraska Chamber Singers, University Singers, Big Red Singers, Symphonic Band, Cornhusker Marching Band, Blue Stars drum and bugle corps, Bathtub Dogs a cappella group, numerous musical productions and pit orchestras, and is a proud alumnus of Millard West High School’s show choir “West in the Groove”. In his time not spent composing, Drew enjoys playing Nintendo games, cooking, spending time outside, traveling around the country, and cheering on the Huskers!
