Katie Schramm
Currently in her fifth year as choir director at Martinsburg High School, Katie Schramm directs three ensembles including the Lady Choraliers and the Good Times Show Choir. Under Mrs. Schramm’s direction, the choirs at Martinsburg have received numerous superior ratings and placements at festivals, including an honor ensemble selection in 2017 and Show Choir FAME Nationals placement in 2018. Schramm is also the Region VII chair for WVVMA and on the WVMEA Executive Board as the Tri-M state chairperson. She also teaches music theory and is the Fine Arts Department Chair at MHS. Schramm is a graduate of West Virginia University as 2nd in her class, where she received her B.M. in Music Education with an emphasis in voice. She took private conducting lessons from Dr. Mitchell Arnold and voice with Dr. Hope Koehler. She also was named leads in full staged musicals and operas at WVU, was a member of the African Drum and Dance Ensemble, and was the founding president of the ACDA collegiate chapter. In 2012, Katie studied abroad in Ghana, West Africa where she studied drum, dance, and song. Schramm’s private students have 100% collegiate music placement and she runs the largest choir festival in the tristate region.
