Karlene Krouse has 15+ years as the show choir director at Bishop Luers HS in Fort Wayne, Indiana; the school were all of this magic of show choir competitions began. She has been the head of the performing arts department and drama director since 1985, directing over 100 plays and musicals. Karlene teaches three choirs and three theater classes plus is an adjunct professor at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne campus and Trine University.
She is a graduate of Jordan Conservatory of Music at Butler University and has her masters in secondary education from the University of Saint Francis. Karlene has been involved in many community boards, Junior League, Fort Wayne Children's Theatre, SJS school board, FAME school arts program, and has been a show choir adjudicator for West Virginia State show choir competition and various other competitions. In 2007-2008, Karlene was named an Athena Award Nominee for leadership in the Fort Wayne community and the "Light of Learning" award recipient for Bishop Luers HS.
Karlene and her husband Jim have five children, all graduates of Bishop Luers.
