Show Choir Community > Personnel: Kyle Barker

Kyle Barker
Kyle Barker is a native of Indianapolis, IN. He graduated in May of 2013 from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with a degree in Choral Music Education and a minor in choral conducting. During his time at IU, he sang with both the University Singers, an elite chamber choir under the direction of Dr. Richard Tangyuk, and the Singing Hoosiers under the direction of Dr. Michael Schwartzkopf. He was also a founding member of the IU Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Kyle has recently finished four years teaching at Northridge High School in Middlebury, Indiana. During that time, his choirs have grown and gained recognition throughout the region. He has led choirs to four State Championships and two State Runner-Ups either as the director or assistant director of the group. He has also taken four concert choirs to State Finals during his tenure at Northridge. In addition, he has been the music director for a number of community theaters and has taught private voice and piano lessons for the last several years. Kyle is excited to be joining the choral directing staff at Carmel High School where he will be directing the Ambassadors show/concert choir, assisting with the other competition groups in the program, teaching three other choirs, as well as co-teaching the Applied Music course and co-directing the musical. When not teaching, Kyle enjoys watching movies, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
