Nick McGraw is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Mitchell High School in Mitchell, SD. At MHS Nick conducts four curricular concert choirs, one extra-curricular show choir, and serves as the vocal music director for the annual musical.
In May of 2019, Nick graduated with a Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While at UNL, in addition to being a full-time student Nick was also a Graduate Teaching Assistant. His assistantship responsibilities included directing Big Red Singers (UNL’s show choir) and coordinating Midwest Cup (UNL’s show choir invitational) and the Nebraska Show Choir Camp.
Prior to starting at UNL in the Fall of 2017, Nick taught in Iowa for six years. He spent five of those six at Keokuk Middle & High Schools. His responsibilities included: 6th Grade General Music, 7th Grade Boys Choir, 7th Grade Girls Choir, 8th Grade Boys Choir, 8th Grade Girls Choir, HS Concert Choir, Varsity Show Choir, JV Show Choir and he also prepared students for OPUS Auditions, All-State Auditions, Solo/Ensemble Contest, and Large Group Contest. Nick also maintained a private voice studio in the summers.
Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, Nick received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Morningside College in 2010. Nick is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association.
Nick is also the proud papa of a ‘magical’ Jack Russell Terrier-Shih Tzu mix named Albus.
