Does anyone have rankings or scores for prelims and finals?

Curious to know where people thought The Classics would have ranked who were there?

GC: Waubonsie (BV)
1RU: Wheaton (Coolest Choreo)
2RU: Clinton (cleanest choreo)
3RU: Buffalo Grove
4RU: Urbandale
5RU: Prospect

Best choreo would be a personal preference issue. Clinton is "Clinton clean" and Wheaton is nearly but the thing about Wheaton is that they dont execute choreo they dance like nobody else in the country.

Classics would have won the competition if they competed.

I remember not making finals in 2010!! It was hands down the worst day of show choir I ever had. 😒

I went in 2010 and was also shocked that u didn't make finals! Besides some fine singing and dancing, your costumes were beautiful and the work put into the scenery for your sets was amazing. Wasn't that also the year that a tornado hit your town, so you guys had all that to deal with too? I remember thinking, what an incredible group to deal with all that, travel far to Wheaton and still put on such a good show!

I personally would have had them at 2RU.

Would anyone be willing to put up the six groups from finals from the DVD on youtube when they get it?

This was a fantastic day filled with top notch performances. All groups should be applauded.

Mitchell- I really enjoyed the theme of the show. Also, I loved when I heard "Covergirl, put that bass in your walk!"

Prospect- BEAUTIFUL show. Creative and imaginative. Authentic and executed well. The 2nd song and the ballad are gorgeous. You all have a special place in my heart- I can see why Alex and T are so proud of you all.

Eisenhower- For a smaller group, you guys do an amazing job of pumping out the volume and energy (duh, Elite Energy).

Buffalo Grove- I told Randy later after the competition was over that I believe that there are moments in the opener and closer that are the best show choir moments I have seen all year. Kudos to you all for going out of your comfort zone and trying something COMPLETELY different. You did a wonderful job and should be extremely proud of your finish.

Clinton- You have such an intense show. It never stops and I'm not sure if I could have performed such a physically intense show when I was in HS, so congrats! The story is told perfectly. Everything is just spot on. 2nd place is nothing to be ashamed of here. It was a pleasure to see your performances.

Waubonsie Valley- Wow. The spirit and unity that you all display when you perform your show is INSANE. Your vocals are just better than anything I've heard this year. Mark Myers is a genius when it comes to teaching you all to sing properly and stylistically appropriate to each song. The choreography is sick, groovy, and impressive. Year to year, you sometimes get criticized for having a weak song in your show... not the case this year. Every song is SOLID. Congrats on this win!

Did anyone ever hear about scoring / rankings? I read somewhere that it was a virtual tie in the end, with WV being only slightly ahead.

Im friends with someone from Expressions and they said that their sleep ballad is 100% accapella. It is also my favorite whitacre

It was entirely a capella at Wheaton which I was happy about. At previous competitions though they did have the piano double the bass part when it started to get in the lower register. You can hear it on the youtube video from Dekalb, and I remember hearing it at Mt. Zion. Kudos for them for taking the risk to do the song as a ballad though!

I just have to commend the kids from Sound Check on the performance of their lives! It was so evident that they wanted to win with all their might and that they were fighting for it. And I love that they won, not only because they deserved it, but also because it sends a good message about what show choir is all about: singing and dancing. Props, sets, and expensive costuming is nice to look at, but is not necessary to come out on top. That being said, I LOVED Clinton's show as well. I dont think there is a choir in the country that has better dancers than Attache. The soloists were amazing too and the guys' number with the stomping choreography was incredible. This was really an amazing competition.

The 'underground' soloist right?

yeah it was him. He is so freaking amazing. His solo is such an awesome way to end a show.

Video quality isn't as good as if it was just on a DVD player but that's the karma you get by putting it on youtube i guess ;P
