After that, it will most likely be at least somewhat close.
The last 5 spots could go to
Ralston
Westwood
Le Mars
Gretna
Lewis Cental
Hinton
Blair
Sioux Center
It will be nice to see how much a few of those have improved since i saw them almost a month ago, and to see some of those for the first time this year.
Will hopefully be making it down for this one :D
Lol, EW. Don't call me Mr. Schroeder; that makes me sound old.
You're right though, my predictions are 100% wrong, but I thought I would make them for fun.
We'll see how this one goes. And I think my schedule is clear for the 23rd so I can make it down!
Gretna has dropped a lot over the past couple years and their finishes this year have led me to believe they will have competition to make finals here.
I actually thought they were solid when I saw them at Muscatine this year. I've been kinda surprised at the low placings they've been receiving. However, I guess judges don't like the show as much as I did. I think you're right that Hinton might make finals and surprise them.
GC: Papio South
1RU: Ralston
2RU: Lewis Central
3RU-5RU: Westwood, Le Mars, Gretna
I have a feeling that the top three are pretty set.
I respectfully disagree, Mr. Schroeder.
I think this competition will be very interesting, actually. Papio South, LeMars and Westwood, like you said, have not competed yet. Ralston doesn't seem to be quite as impressive as they have been the past couple years. Lewis Central has dropped quite a bit, too. Last year, if I remember right, Lewis Central was behind LeMars after daytime here and then jumped in finals. All of these create HUGE unknowns for this competition.
Because of these unknowns, I will not post actual placement predictions (well, maybe I will closer to the competition if I see more definition to these groups), but instead just predictions on who will make finals:
(Alphabetical Order)
LeMars
Lewis Central
Papillion LaVista South
Ralston
Westwood
I think the last spot will come down to Gretna, Hinton, and maybe even Sioux Center. Gretna has dropped a lot over the past couple years and their finishes this year have led me to believe they will have competition to make finals here.
GC: Papio South
1RU: Ralston
2RU: Lewis Central
3RU-5RU: Westwood, Le Mars, Gretna
I have a feeling that the top three are pretty set. The bottom three could go anyway though. Gretna has already performed twice this year and they placed got into finals both times so they'll be in finals here too. It's just that Le Mars and Westwood haven't performed competitively this year, although both groups earned straight division 1 ratings at the Iowa State Show Choir festival. We'll see how these three groups do when facing each other!
I'm pretty sure I'll make it for this competition. I'm excited!!!!
Did this one change from the "Quad-State Showcase" to the "Crusader Classic," or am I mixing my events up?
When I was in high school, Bishop Heelan consistently brought in groups from Nebraska (Omaha Westside, Millard West, Papillion La Vista, Gretna, GINW), Minnesota (Bloomington Kennedy, Totino Grace, Hastings), South Dakota (Mitchell, Sioux Falls Washington and Sioux Falls O'Gorman), and of course many Iowa schools (Sioux City East, Lewis Central, LeMars, and a massive amount of 1A/2A competition such as Westwood and Hinton). Unfortunately, many of these schools have dropped some in competitiveness and the ones that haven't have chosen to go other directions. Because of this, Heelan's competition has suffered greatly. They still produce a good competition year in and year out, but they have less and less "big names". Plus, there is no gym/auditorium I have ever been in that gets hotter than Heelan's "The Pit", aka the gym where the competition takes place. Heelan will be building a completely new high school and gym in a couple years, so it will be interesting to see if that attracts some bigger groups again.
Here's a schedule! This may be the earliest it's been released. Haha, I feel like I'm going to be exiled from Heelan show choir by giving this out
