Sometimes financially the smarter and better way to even stay a show choir and keep afloat and allow students to even be in it and perform is to stay "in-state"... The majority of America is not made out of money and I personally do not frown at Solon for being smart. If it's as big of a deal for someone to beat them for whatever reason or entitlement or some stupid show choir ranking website, go to their homeground, spend your money... Some may argue it's a learning experience and I'm not going to debate it, but heaven forbid just come to NYC and see paid performers and actors with lots of training and learn from them or just look on youtube (which I know is not like seeing them live). Times is hard, I respect Solon's director for the competitions he has chosen to attend.

On a personal note and final statement, if you really wanna learn and it's so important for you to have "national entitlement", and you want to spend 10,000 to travel a group to prove a point which I guess is fun for all the spectators and personally fun for some directors, head down south and go on up against Clinton on their turf. Good luck. (Obviously I hold Clinton on another level than anyone else, thumbs down away)

But forreal, It's really not that important and holding that against Solon is rediculous.
Best of luck to everyone competing at Medina, looks like it's going to be a great competition and I can't wait to see the DVD. =-.)

I'm gonna guess that Solon wins on the fact that their vocals and band combined outweigh how much better Twinsburg's dancing is than theirs. I'm not sure about the other groups, but I think Solon will get best band and vocals and Twinsburg will get best choreo.

I can definitely see where you're coming from, and truthfully, it's hard to disagree with you. Solon has won best vocals at 7 of the last 8 competitions they have competed at including 5 straight and all 3 so far this season.

However, playing devils advocate, Twinsburg beat Solon head-to-head at Marysville where Solon won Best Vocals and Best Band... so at Marysville's competition, Solon's vocal and band scores were slightly higher, but Twinsburg's choreo must have been significantly better to pull ahead for the GC. In addition, Twinsburg is coming off a really impressive sweep over Buffalo Grove whereas Solon doesn't have any signature wins over nationally-known groups such as BG, which is personally one of my biggest critiques for Solon. The lack of competition against elite show choirs and traditionally staying in-state for show choir competitions. It's difficult to gain national respect when you're only competing locally.

So yeah, I agree with you. Solon could very well win Best Vocals, but in my opinion they will need to close the gap in the choreo/show design categories. The best thing about show choir is it's subjective and judges have different preferences. So when you're as good as these two, sometimes it just comes down to personal preferences.

GC- Solon BV/BB
1RU Twinsburg BC
2RU Findlay
3/4/5 RU-Beavercreak,ETC,Olentangy

It will be really close between the top 3 and will depend on who executes the best and obviously judges preferences. If they are all about vocals I think Solon wins, show and choreo Twinsburg. No matter what it should be a great competition with a lot great choirs.

I have seen Solon, Twinsburg, Olentagy, Findlay and ETC this year. They are all amazing but ETC has things going for it that the other groups do not:

They have so much fight in them pumped by the love they have for fellow member Abbey, Of "Team Abbey" on their side. ---they are in it to win it for Abbey. They have desire and drive and are totally stoked for this competition. They are going to turn some heads this week end and are coming off 2 GC's... ETC all the way!!!!!!

Can someone explain why Twinsburg is set as a "Tier 2" competitor? Is it because of school size or something?

I'm assuming it's school size.

Its going to be so great to see Etc go up against the big dogs of Ohio and prove who they are this weekend. They have come so far already this year and I am so proud of their hard work. They really do have a great show and I'm very excited to see how much they've improved since I've last seen them. If they perform as well as I know they can, I think they will really surprise some people. Don't count them out.

Solon, Twinsburg, Findlay, ETC, Beavercreek, I think, are all definitely going to make it to finals I'm actually kind of conflicted about the last finalist spot.

Olentangy, Garfield, and North Royalton, I can see fighting for the last spot...

Maybe I'm just biased. *shrug* But I can't really see an order for this one. It will be tough.
