I think this is a really cool concept!! Great to see Prairie starting a competition. And I love the side balconies! Those are sweet.

The Prairie Music Association is excited to announce the first annual Prairie "Premiere" Show Choir Competition and Clinic on Saturday, January 5, 2013. We know this event will serve as a great way to kick off your 2013 show choir season!

Here are the top three reasons why you should consider joining us!

1. The event will be held in our state-of-the-art Concert Hall with comfortable seating for 1000. The Concert Hall has played host to the Cedar Rapids area Fab Five Show Choir Festival for the past few years, and we are excited to extend an invitation to all of your groups! We consistently hear rave reviews about our performance facilities.
2. Because this will be the first competition of the season, we are offering extended clinics with top notch clinicians and directors in the show choir field. Clinics will immediately follow your performance and will be longer and more interactive than the typical critique. We want your groups to sing, dance, and learn from these educators without being rushed.
3. Finally, the competition portion of the event will take place in one round and will not include evening finals. Because we want to offer more time with the clinicians, we do not want to be constrained to a traditional show choir competition format. The competitive round will extend into the evening with awards (including the traditional "top 6" and Grand Champion recognition) and trophies to follow, but we are committed to ending the event at a reasonable hour.

We want to offer an event that kicks off the show choir season in both a competitive and highly educational way. It will be a way for your groups to get their feet wet, get the first competition under their belt, and improve upon their show immediately. Additionally, we will offer many caption awards in each division to highlight the strengths of the groups that perform.

Please email [email protected] to receive more information or to reserve one of our final remaining spots for this inaugural event. We have had a great response already and our schedule is nearly full. The Prairie community is excited to host you!
