Most people may not know this information. I found out from a South Jones person that some of the scoring and placement accidentally got messed up (got typed in wrong) in finals.
Last night, finals awards were announced as:
GC-Petal
1st RU-Homewood
2nd RU-Albertville
3rd RU-Pascagoula
4th RU-West Jones
HOWEVER, that is not correct. The CORRECT placement is:
GC-Petal
1st RU-Homewood 2nd RU-Pascagoula 3rd RU-Albertville
4th RU-West Jones
Somehow the scoring and placement got mixed up in the printing.
Last night was amazing! I had a blast! Thanks for a great competition South Jones!! Yall always host a fantastic competition (P.S. I love the Shirts...like always!). Shout outs to my new friends from West Jones.. Alex and Zeek!! I can't wait to see everyone again soon! Good Luck to all in the future!!
On Wayne County, it was an absolutely HORRIBLE performance for us. But I've got to give my group a big compliment for holding it together.
Two of our guys randomly dropped last week, leaving us with only three guys. And a few added a number of new girls to our group from our disbanded girls group last week. (thus the reason for the random blue dresses). But those same girls are doing an AMAZING job of learning the dances and will soon be in every number.
And not to mention the DISASTER onstage....with the choir and half the band being at one place in the music, while another part of the band was two whole measures behind and never really caught up.
And yes, our Rubberband is almost exactly the same as Albertville's. We didn't realize it until after we had been choreographed. But it's still an amazing number with amazing choreography, so I'm still proud to have it in our show.
But I thought every group was absolutely AMAZING. Especially Petal and Albertville. Can't wait until next week.
Petal: Wow... Best they've been in 3 or 4 years... The guys number was a little weird in Finals, but everything else was wonderful...
Homewood: Best vocals they've had in as long as I can remember... The opener and ballad were flat out amazing... If the guys and girls numbers would have been a little more energetic, I think they would've won...
Pascagoula: High energy throughout the show... Sharp choreography... Great vocals... Typical Pascagoula ...
West Jones: I thought we were much better vocally in Finals... I'd like to see us beat one of the big boys before the year is over...
NE Jones: Good show, good choreography... A lot of girls, not so many guys...
My day was especially crazy... After our Finals performance, we were moving our riser extensions off the stage... I blacked out for a split second after what I think was heat exhaustion and fell off the edge of the 2nd level onto the stage floor with the riser... It landed on my hand and somehow ripped my pants in an area I'd rather not talk about (it could have been a lot worse if you catch my drift)... I missed South Jones because I was laid out in the hospitality room, very dizzy... I'm typing one-handed right now because I smashed the fingernail on my index finger and quite possibly broke my middle finger, but it's definitely severely bruised... I got back into the auditorium just in time for awards, but I was out of it anyways... I got home and didn't remember how we placed I was so dizzy... But anyways, I have two things to say about yesterday... 1. Symbol crashes and armography please the judges... 2. Watch your step coming off of the risers!
By the way, does anyone know the score differentials for Finals?
last night was absoluletly amazing.
although i was extremely tired during finals[from having been there since 7:30 am]
i did have the pleasure of seeing every group perform...
A & AA womens & the mens group.
pascagoula:it was entirely different from anything i have ever seen. the girls never left the stage to change, and they didnt have a guys or girls number. but it was fabulous! definitely the cleanest & sharpest choir every year. for a group that had so many new members it was not even noticable that it was their first year. good job you guys. you DID NOT deserve fourth in finals.
pearl river central: wow. if i rememeber correctly you guys were the "wolf gang" last year..? yall did AMAZING. it was like watching a brand new choir. my jaw was pretty much on the floor. kudos to you guys.. it was fantastic.
wayne county:i saw alot of improvement from last year.. the only thing that i found odd was yall had the same exact choreography as albertville three or four years ago for rubberband man, other than that it was much better than last year.
jackson academy: you too have improved so much. the ballad was awesome! & yall had a great band.! & throughtout the show you guys had so much energy. it was entertaining.
albertville: always one of my personal favorites. props.amazing. vocals. amazing. choreo. amazing. show design. amazing. i think that in the south, they are not used to seeing shows like that, mid-west style shows, and they didnt know what to think. but i loved it.
homewood: what an opener! i was floored! vocals blew me away.! great job you guys!!!
petal: ahhhhh!! wowowowowowow. awesome show awesome props. definitely a first place show in my eyes. not to sound offensive but some of your shows in the past i did not find that entertaining even though the vocals were great.. but this show litterally had me on the edge of my seat. it was great.
south jones!!!! what can i say. you guys rocked last night. i just wish i could put your show on repeat and watch it everday =]
i too agree that bethany was amazing as always, but phillip estes, who sang half of his song acapella, floored me.

WOW!!! Homewood got best choreo " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> ? I'm sorry but I completely don't understand what those judges saw. Don't get me wrong... it was great! But Pascagoula should have won hands down! They should have had the entire competition. But they got 4th place? Something is wrong here. Everyone did a fantastic job tonight but I definitely do not think that Petal should have won. Based on finals performances it should have been:

2nd- Petal
3rd-Albertville
4th- Homewood
5th- West Jones
Bethany did a great job with her solo too but I think Philip Estes should have won. I mean... they cut his track off in the middle of his song and he had to do the entire last half a capella! That's talent right there!
Anyways, like I said before. Everyone did a great job tonight. I just definitely don't agree with how the judging turned out! But everyone is to be commended for the great jobs they have ll done on their shows thus far!
any updates? I'm glad to see west jones was 2nd visually. I know they have a new choreographer. How was petal? Post results or reviews of shows ASAP!! Thanks

In prelims albertville got penalized two points for going over time... Without that they would be in second place right now... As far as visuals goes, petal and homewood are tied for first and west jones is close behind in second

" border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> Oh well... they aren't timed in finals so maybe they will do a lot better point wise! The show couldn't have been much better! I still say Pascagoula is the group to beat though. Here are my predictions for winners:
