Any idea if there is going to be a combo judge here this year? I know some competitions have a choreography judge do combo, which I don't think is very fair.

Well I don't believe there are any specific "choreography judges". The judges that are more inclined to choreography are Michelle and Aaron, and neither are judging day round. Kim, Duane, and DK have all directed very successful choirs. I know DK has arranged MANY shows and always led Mo's backup band and has won numerous best band caption awards in multiple states. I'm really not worried about the caliber of judging at this competition. They might not all have the same views as me (actually I don't think any of them do) but they are all extremely qualified and have all judges numerous competitions over the years. I've also never noticed Best Band going to the wrong choir at Mt. Pleasant. I really don't think it's an issue.

Don't forget GCS's band!!!!!!! Their sound is phenomenal! It's going to be a mini-competition in itself

We're very excited to get spoiled by the sounds of IC High's rockin' band again! It feels weird, I saw your show six times live last season (4 before Mt. Pleasant 2011)... and its already February and I haven't seen it once!

That's what I'm looking forward to most. At Dav North, Central beat City in prelims by 7.5 points. In finals, City beat Central in scoring by 4 points, but ended up losing to them based on rankings. With new judges and a new location, 2 weeks later, it'll be intense seeing how these two groups finish!
I'm also very excited to see Muscatine this year! I hear their show is super awesome and very "California"!

Iowa City High and Davenport Central were extremely close in scoring at Davenport North so it will be interesting to see which group ends out on top here!

SO MANY DAVENPORTS....

You should see Cedar Rapids. There are 5 of us, not including Linn-Mar which also has some of it's district in Cedar Rapids.

I'm glad more groups chose to attend this competition this year, it is always such a fun and well run competition!

Agreed. This competition took a big hit when the Cedar Rapids schools moved the Fab 5 to this weekend. Wash and Linn-Mar can't go anymore, and Xavier used to attend but stopped when the lineup started going down. Mt. Pleasant was always one of my favorite competitions to attend. Such a fun atmosphere! I remember the giant conga line, tin foil sword fights, and a giant monopoly game in the cafeteria my senior year. Fun times!
