Thanks to the parents and students at Urbandale for hosting a really great day!!! Terrific shows all day long and a beautiful facility to house the competition. God Bless

And I feel Johnston took 4th in 2006, but I could have my placements wrong.

But congrats to Waukee! Making things VERY interesting for next week!

It also could have been: Johnston hasn't beatin urbandale since 2002, which was 10 years ago.

We were told differently, but yeah, I'm sure it was just miscommunication. We still win a consistency award.

Martins right. In 2004 7 groups were in finals at urbandale, and Johnston took 6th that year.

Johnston hasn't won at urbandale since 2001 so maybe that's what Andrew was thinking.

I'm not so sure about 10 straight years of finishing as 2RU (didn't Inno place 2nd in 2007 and 6th in 2004?) BUT - this was the 22nd consecutive year of being in the evening finals, and I know 24 of the past 25 years - and that has to be a record of some sort (most appearances in a row at the same contest - which of course, not every school goes to the same contest for 25+ years - but Johnston has to Urbandale!)

What a fun day though - and kudos to Urbandale for keeping things running ON TIME. Amazing - back east accross the Mississippi it seems these things don't get over til midnight at best. They could take some lessons from the Urbandale organizers perhaps?

But a well earned win by Waukee - some gorgeous singing going on there, and Ankeny is as powerful as ever (I'd love to see them head to head with Waubonsie). And I'm glad to see Johnston doing our thing of being different from anybody else. Guess that's why we came up with the name Innovation 20 years ago...

And I can't wait to see Urbandale Studio again at FAME Chicago AND know they'll be out in the audience to see ME at the opera for Aida . I'll wave at y'all fron the priests chorus onstage, haha.

Oh - does anybody know the best solo winners? My vote for best male solo in a show was that fantastic ballad soloist from DSM Lincoln - very well done, and stylistically perfect in my opinion. Hope he got recognized!

Youre welcome. I'm sorry, but I had to leave the competition, so I will not be able to post anything else about it.
