We had some major technical difficulties today- the more "stuff" you use, the more things can go wrong- and today was just one of those days. Oh well!

Wheaton Warrenville was the most impressive to me today- after the daytime, Wheaton Warrenville was about 50 points ahead of the pack- and should have been first in every category. EEE was wonderful, with a really creative show. Buffalo Grove is dancing more, and dancing better than I've seen them in years- Randy Sage is a great fit for them.

Good luck to Hastings tonight- make Minnesota proud!!!

Welp... It's been a really interesting day here at Onalaska.

Here are my thoughts and predictions...

1st- Wheaton Warrenville
2nd- Eisenhower
3rd- Sioux City East
4th- Omaha Westside
5th- Mt. Zion
6th- Sauk Prairie
7th- Totino Grace
8th- Buffalo Grove
9th- Johnston
10th- Hastings
11th- Waconia
12th- Xavier
13th- Altoona

Vocals-
1st- Wheaton Warrenville (BY FAR!)
2nd- Sioux City East
3rd- Eisenhower

Choreography-
1st- Eisenhower
2nd- Wheaton Warrenville
3rd- Sioux City East

Band-
1st- Wheaton Warrenville
2nd- Totino Grace
3rd- Sioux City East

Best Male- Sioux City East
Best Female- Wheaton Warrenville

Some small comments...
Wheaton Warrenville- Watch out for this group! They are AMAZING!!! Their vocals are soooo beautiful. I gave them a standing ovation after their ballad and was holding back tears. I have never given a standing ovation DURING a show.
Eisenhower- SUCH an inspirational show. Full of pure energy! I'm rooting for them to take this. Their choreography was by far the cleanest.
Sioux City East- Fun show. Great sound. They are going to be at the top of Iowa this year.
Omaha Westside- Nice sound.
Mt. Zion- VERY shaky. The only reason I put them in finals was due to their novelty. (Which really, when you think about it, isn't a good reason at all) It was soo cool because they interacted with the audience... something I love. Their choreography is SLOPPY.
Sauk Prairie- They have the vocals and they are clean... they aren't always the crowd pleaser... but I thought they did well.

These are all the groups I saw.

OHS Express is going right now. Finals will be announced afterwards.

Because this is Onalaska... this is how it will most likely actually happen-
Finalists-
Mt. Zion
Buffalo Grove
Eisenhower
Sioux City East
Wheaton Warrenville
Omaha Westside

...
As I type this... the fire alarm just went off... I'm not kidding.

Good luck to all groups!!

Quick thoughts on Concert Choir:

Totino-Grace: Wow! What an ensemble you guys are. I don't remember how many women you had, but with 12 guys, you produce A LOT of sound. Not only that, but it was HEALTHY. I was so impressed. You are one of the finest high school choirs I have ever heard- period. Your sense of phrase and blend last night was nearly unmatched. Wow, congrats on a job well done.

Sioux City East: You were also fantastic! I was so impressed on so many levels. The straight toned soprano in Lux Aurumque, the basses, many things on all levels impressed me. Fine job.

La Crosse Central: Well, you did it again. I was so impressed with your connectivity, that was unmatched last night. Garten Mother's was PHENOMONAL! I was nearly in tears!!! You guys made me proud last night, and 30 points off out of 600. That means that you average score was 9.5/10 on everything. Congrats, you've worked hard and deserved it!
