WOW! Congrats to Hart! way to represent. Im so happy for all of you and can't wait to see you guys. Having had the chance to meet Mr.Fehr (although briefly) it is no surprise to me that his group handled everything with class. I must say though even though the battle of the year was supposed to be at fame Chicago I believe the battle of the year will be at the So Cal Invitational.

Burbank vs Burroughs vs Hart vs Brea...etc... That is going to be fun to watch!

Johns Hill and Thos. Jefferson had to cancel due to the weather conditions on Friday, but Johns Hill came on Saturday and performed for the audience.

I'm so sorry to hear about those two groups not able to make it! But, that is wonderful that Sullivan let John's Hill still come to perform! That is very awesome to hear. Go John's HILL!

Hello Show Choir Community,

I wanted to send out a BIG thank you to all of the groups that attended our competition this past weekend. We really love hosting groups in our small town of 4400. David Fehr started this competition back in the early 80's and his vision and dreams still live on today. All the groups were really amazing this weekend. It is such an incredible experience to see so much talent on our stage in Sullivan.

MTZ: You group has so much energy. Mike and Dwight do such an amazing job and you are lucky to have them. I really love "What's your name". It is really one of my favorite medleys of all time. It was also a lot of fun getting to know so many kids from your group this weekend. You're AMAZING!!

Eisenhower: I cannot wait to see your show in LA this weekend. I missed it this weekend due to your performance times but I heard incredible things about it. Scott, thank you for letting us use a keyboard at the last minute. You are going to make Illinois very proud in California.

Edgewood: Your choreography is awesome and I really love the ballad. Your Dave Fehr arrangement of Final Countdown is one of my favorites of all time. Verda is the mother of show choir. Don't forget to give her sweet tea.

Hart: Your kids were wonderful. I have never seen a bus load of students so excited to be in Sullivan. Our students had a wonderful time meeting all of you this past weekend. I have a feeling they wont stop talking about you for quite a long time. Gail is really sweet and talented.

Clinton: I have to say I have never met soo many polite and kind people all in the same group before. Our students today were raving about your performance and grace that you carried yourselves with this past weekend. We can all learn from your incredible students. Your performance was mind blowing. We cannot wait to hang out with you in Nashville. Dave and Mary are mentors to so many directors including myself and continue to push show choir to a new level every year. Thank you for your inspiration.

Danville: You were wonderful hosts to us a month ago and we were sure glad you competed in Sullivan. Your group has improved so much since you Inviational it is mind blowing. Keep up the GREAT work. I really love your ballad. It is just so emotional. See you at Watseka.

Palatine: I love ZOMBIE JAMBOREE!! I used to listen to the Rockapella version of that song for months on end. Needless to say I am a fan our your music.

Springfield: Your ballad soloist is really wonderful and sweet. You were also wonderful hosts for us last weekend. Running a competition takes a lot of work and we appreciate what you did for us.

El Paso: Your Choreography is sweet. I also really enjoy your ballad. John keeps pushing this program to new levels every year.

Ofallon: Wow what a difference a year makes. We saw you last year in Springfield and I was so impressed with your show this year. You sure have been working hard. Good Luck in Chicago.

Watseka: We cannot wait for your competition. I am also amazed at your improvement since Danville. Keep up the great work.

To everyone else who competeted in Sullivan. Thank you for your outstanding shows and energy. We learn soo much from watching all the groups at our competition. It really is crazy the amount of time we all spend trying to perfect our shows and to be the best we can be. It makes me wonder if all of our teachers in our schools had as much commitment as our music teachers what all of our test scores would be like.

Good Luck the rest of the season!!!!!!

Director of the Sullivan Singers

It is 5:30 am LA time and I have to get ready for school...yes, reality has set in. It seems like such a dream...we had a wonderful weekend in Sullivan...the families were so warm and welcoming, from the minute we stepped into their cafeteria after being on the road from our school to theirs for 15 hrs to saying goodby yesterday afternoon. I brought the kids to this competition because I wanted them to see live some of the incredible Mid-west show choirs...and especially Attache(from the south), and I thought it would be a wonderful experience for them to get to know the Sullivan people and see how the Midwest competitions run. Plus, the Sullivan singers were incredible...I'm glad we weren't competing against them.
We love our show, and after working with Kevin Butler and Judy Meeks, they sounded really strong. Mary Rosebrock, my assistant and costumer put in many sleepless nights to assure we looked beautiful. The band was really on under the direction of Leslie Garman, and our choreographers, Gerald Espinosa and Elyse Fairchild are obsessive and slave drivers(besides being talented)...we had put in many extra hours so we wouldn't embarass ourselves in front of the exceptional choirs we would see at Sullivan.
The planets alligned and it worked out for us...we were totally shocked and thrilled by the results...for those of you who would pay to see a video of my reaction (how about $25,000...the cost of our trip to Illinois?)...I was speechless...which really tells you something. David Fehr came to congratulate me, and I didn't know what to say(still pretty speechless)...what a professional and nice man. In the words of Kevin Butler, I guess the judges favored chocolate chip cookies that night. Brett Carroll was texting me for an hour before they announced the results...but it takes me 20 minutes to send one text message...and Kevin Butler called me from his hotel..what a nice feeling it was to have so many people so kind to us.
Thanks for all your great support...the kids are in cloud 9...maybe that's partially from being sleep deprived( sledding at midnight?????Steak and shake until 3am?????) and I have urged them to go to school today. It was an incredible weekend that they won't forget; the kids of Sullivan, the families, the other families and students at the competition that were so welcoming, David Moellenkamp who went out of his way to help us in this different place, our bus driver, Jim, the Eisenhower director who let us use his synthesizer...David Fehr and the Clinton kids, all the other groups whose shows we loved...Mt Zion...I loved that bit in the audience!!! Then performing our hearts out.
Oops...I'm going to be late to school...
Thank you for our fairy tale weekend everyone.
Sincerely, Gail (I do not own the school) Hart

The Eisenhower director is Scott Hines. He's awesome!

I'm glad to hear that Hart enjoyed their time in the midwest... Please come back!

To everyone who was at Sullivan yesterday:

Thank you so much to everyones amazing support and hardwork! All the groups were fantastic yesterday and we knew w had to work really really hard to peform at the level of the midwest. The whole day was so much fun and will definately be remembered by everyone in Sound Vibes, the band, the crew, the choreographers, the parents that chaperoned and of course our director Mrs.Gail Hart (no affiliation to the schools name)

To the Sullivan Singers:

You were SO incredibly hospitable. Your welcoming attitude made us feel right at home! Thank you so much for letting our kids stay with you in your beautiful snow filled city!

To Clinton Attache, we were so excited to see you guys. I know for myself you were the group I went there to see! Your show was amazing and very inspiring to us! Thank you so much.

To everyone from back home who called, texted, emailed and left voice messages: thank you!!! Good luck to everyone at all your competitions in the future!

This weekend was a fairytale in a lot of ways. Most of all it proved to our kids that if you rally want something you'll work your butt-off. You reap what you sow.

Thanks everyone and we look forward to working harder and seeing everyone at Fame Hawaii and back home at Showcase and SoCal.

Brett Carroll (Burbank director) called me from Indiana with the results like at 12am California time...

I could not believe my ears... The words out of my mouth was OMG like about 100 times! I need to see the Finals DVD ASAP!!!

I did speak with David Fehr last night after the results. And I must say... I have so much respect for that man and the students of Clinton! They took it with CLASS and dignity. Every show choir needs to learn from Clinton Attache on what professionalism is. I have heard horror stories (even seen some) on when someone loses or even beats someone on how rude and childish they have become and the things they've said or done. Very embarrassing and makes your whole school look BAD.

Clinton=Class and professionalism at it's finest. Fehr went to seek out Gail Hart after the results, he congratulated the Hart home room (while looking for Gail) and when he did find her, was sincere in his congrats to her.

(NOTE TO BELICHECK... YOU too can learn from this Mr. Hoodie! .... ie. See last Super Bowl walkout last several seconds)

Of course it is sad for Clinton to see their own streak end, but I know that those students still left the competition with smiles and that southern friendliness that the Attache students have always displayed. I have never seen Fehr brag about the winning streak, and since they do not post on scc... it was all of US who kept that streak on a untouchable level. Greatness to strive for!
It is now 7:45am.. I woke up and said.. OMG again! Still in shock here...
To my friends at Hart... This win has made your decade! Congrats a million times! We are proud here in California for your accomplishment! and Chula looks forward to seeing you in Hawaii as well!

I WANT SOMEONE WHO HAS VIDEO of GAIL HART's REACTION to get it on youtube RIGHT NOW!!!

Congrats to Clinton on the most spectacular streak show-choir has probably ever witnessed. Good luck as you go up against another California group in Chicago... John Burroughs! As well as the other big heavy hitters making the trek to the windy city! I know every group will be working so much in preparation for the "Battle of the Century" in Chicago!!!

See you at FAME Hawaii!

Tony Atienza

Oh my lord. If you somehow obtain a video of Ms. Hart's reaction, I will pay you handsomely! Although I am sure her reaction will be audible just in the DVD of the Awards ceremony. And congratulations Hart!
