Congrats to everyone; I'm sure this competition was amazing. Condolences to Mtz; I'm so sorry for your loss. As for competition credibility, I think it may just be because it's the first year. Sure, the results may not be quite what everyone expected, but no matter what the outcome, it's up to the judges to decide, and if they believe that the results were what should have happened, then that's why the results above happened. Still, a wonderful job to everyone at the competition, and congrats to Wheaton on being the first national championship. I'm sure it was well deserved!

The problem in your show for me lied in the vocals, mainly the women's vocals, which is what you were awarded in. This is where my confusion starts setting in. The guys vocals were a little shouty the whole show, but they held tone pretty well. The women did not hold tone as well.

A-freaking-men. I literally screamed when Mt. Zion was awarded Best Female Sound. Like really? REALLY? Of all groups to win that award Mt. Zion was not my first, second, third, fourth, or fifth choice. Although I do have to say they did sound better in finals than prelims.

Why wasn't the choir director (Brett Carroll) judging vocals during daytime? I think he would be most qualified.

WTF?!
someone please tell me why a simple minded judge would put company of singers in 8th? YESS, I am questioning the credibility of that specific judge. I am sorry for my rather crass opinion but come on. I am not saying they deserved first. Infact, I had them in third close to second, but come on...

who was the guy who MC'd finals????

Tim Shew. He's a performer on Broadway (and a graduate of Millikin )

I was at this competition and I must say I was scratching my head quite a bit. I was a little surprised when they announced Center Grove as BC because I thought they were sloppy during the day round, and I was even more surprised to hear Mt. Zion announced as BV, as I thought 5 other groups sang better than them. My shock level continued to rise when TG wasn't announced in finals. I thought the finalists would be Totino, Wheaton, Fairfield, Center Grove, Mt. Zion.

My finals standings
Wheaton
Fairfield
Center Grove
Mt. Zion
Brea Olinda

Wheaton: Day performance was lacking in the 2nd half of the show. At night, everything went perfectly. The opener and 2nd number were astounding once again, the ballad was GORGEOUS after not being great during the day, and the last two numbers were very nice. Good win!

Fairfield: I figured out during night round that my shows in the future are going to be a lot like Choraliers, song choice wise. Very good band. I thought they'd be in first after day round, because they were overall the best. Good tone all throughout and were clean with an interesting show. I was pretty surprised to see them get 4th in both rounds.

Center Grove: This was the first time I've ever seen a non-Iowa Andy Haines group. I thought parts of it were solid and parts were pretty shaky. The opener is very classic and I liked it. I thought the I Love Me number was fun and cute. The ballad was sang pretty well, plus the arrangement sounds VERY familiar ;). A lot of people weren't too big on the Macho Man song, but I was...until you guys started body rolling each other, which wasn't until the transition between that song and the closer during finals. The tap during the day was kinda messy, but it was much cleaner at night. I honestly don't remember a whole lot about the closer. Finals was a VERY good performance and I was very impressed.

Mt. Zion: Day round performance was better than night. You guys were VERY tight on choreography and were dancing really well. The problem in your show for me lied in the vocals, mainly the women's vocals, which is what you were awarded in. This is where my confusion starts setting in. The guys vocals were a little shouty the whole show, but they held tone pretty well. The women did not hold tone as well. If anything, I thought the day round captions should have been you guys with Visuals, being that Swings DID have the best visuals of the day. I just felt that since I saw your guys show at your competition, the vocals have not improved all that much. Congrats on your placing though

Brea Olinda: Very....interesting. There were times that I loved the show (Mary Poppins, When September Ends) and there were times where I said "what?" (21 Guns several make outs, constant free style choreography for a lot of the show). However, this is the most energetic choir I've EVER seen. Like I tweeted afterwards, you guys make Janesville-Craig look like Ben Stein, which is big.

I had so much fun in Indy, and I'm glad I went

from what I understand, one of their girls tragically lost her father in a car accident the night before. I thought they were amazing and I had seen them at a competition earlier in the year...they were good then but today they were fantastic regardless of any circumstance. Thoughts & prayers go out to your whole show choir family...

Indeed, that is very sad. I'm sure the entire family of show choirs sends their condolences.

Why do people have to make assumptions on who had best vocals or choreo after watching a live feed. We all know nothing is as good as being there. I was there all day and if u stood in the back of the auditorium everyone sounded fantastic. Then if u moved to the front no one sounded as good. U can't give an informative opinion by watching a video. Mt Zion performed amazingly given their dire circumstances and to assume its weird that wheaton won with no captions makes it easy for everyone else to assume that you haven't followed any Fame competition all year. The best overall group won the trophy. Congrats WWHS they deserved the win and everyone else worked just as hard to get what they got.

Congrats to Brea for making finals in a tough line-up. Way to represent Cali. Let's hear it for Wheaton, Mt. Zion, CG and Fairfield as well. It musta been a great final. I think you should all come out to Burroughs Showcase next year! haha

Seems a bit presumptuous, and altogether silly, that there are people denigrating the groups that made finals while not having seen any of the performances today. How on earth could you even have an opinion on a day when you weren't there/didn't watch online? Sorry, past competitions have no bearing on current ones.

That is a great point that to few of people actually think about it. Thank you.
