I just based it on past placements at this particular competition. Los Alamitos has won this competition every time they have attended, and Glenwood always places in the top 3 when they attend. Petal, Findlay and Loveland have also all competed/made finals here in recent years. I could definitely see Ankeny Centennial jumping Glenwood depending on how they are this year. I could also see Carroll, Auburn, Grenada, Decatur and Cedar Rapids Kennedy fighting for a spot in finals, but as of right now I think my prediction is pretty solid. Super excited to see how this one goes down!

Ankenny is SUPER good! I think we'll still see Los Alamitos take the GC though. Loveland has a really solid chance at beating Glenwood as well. Petal & Findlay should also make finals. But I feel like finals is set in stone. Carroll and Decatur aren't going to see a spot in finals.

I don’t know if this is the same Petal that went to Illinois and beat everyone except Clinton. Haven’t had the chance to see them yet, but their record this year isn’t as impressive as 2019 and 2020. Auburn may be the better bet for a Southern group making finals here.

I’m pretty sure Glenwood “Titan Fever” preforms at 10:00am and not 1:00am…

I mean, Southern contests do tend to run late. 1AM is perfectly possible for a prelims performance.

After watching Spectrum on the live feed this past weekend, I'm confident they'll be top 2 here. Their show is sooo good, I can only imagine what it's like in person. Los Alamitos is always one of the best show choirs in the nation every year, but this just might be the year a non-California choir beats them.
(Fun fact, the only time Los Al and Ankeny Centennial have competed was in 2016, and Ankeny Centennial beat Los Al in vocals but got 1st ru to them.)

Ankeny did however take down Burbank in 2017, while losing the best vocals caption.
