I haven't heard a thing about that. IF that is ture, I totally agree with how it was handled. I would hate to think that someone would trivialize show choir like that. I don't think that is fair to anyone who was at that competition. I don't know anything about it. Frankly, I think that this is something that should stay between a dirctor and his/her kids. Don't get me wrong, I understand your concern for show choir and your thirst for more information at the same time, but I would suggest first talking to your director. He or she would probably know the details the best and that would keep rumors from flying around. <-----Not a personal attack, just trying to protect the integrity of an amazing school and show choir. BTW, Onalaska rocked at the competition. You guys were absolutely amazing and I can't wait to see you again later in the year. I thoroughly enjoyed every choir at the competition and was totally surprised at how nice you all were.

Crete: Looking forward to meeting you again later. We will have to hang out! You guys are the coolest guys ever. I love you all!

Everyone: This looks like a great year for show choir and I can't wait until it is in COMPLETELY full swing (or jazz, or tap, or hip-hop... ) Looking forward to seeing as many groups as I can this year!

Well I just got back from show choir practice and we watched our critique tape and all that good stuff. But our director mentioned a judge getting fired on the spot saturday afternoon, because of unfair judging. He would rate on group a 250, then another 50 for example, and repete the same pattern over. They didn't replace the judge but for those groups who got screwed over, they took out his scores and averaged the other score. Does anyone else know about this?

Now, For everyone who doesn't like Mt. Zion. weather it is due to singing, or the fact the some misinformed people think that Mt. Zion is Cocky. The kids this year were very well mannered. At least to this father here. And i take back any of the mean things i said about them.

WHO THINKS MT ZION IS COCKY??!?!?! I LOVE MTZ PEOPLE!!!! THEY ARE SOO NICE................THEY AREN'T COCKY AT ALL!!!

I have to say that I don't think they are cocky at all. At least not to me. I talked to a few of them afterwards and congratulated them and they could only say thanks and say nice things about us. They completely deserved the win. Congrats again! Can't wait to see ya at Moorseville!

For your information "show choir prophet"..... Michael (Billy Joel) has won best soloist twice this year already...so if you think he sucks... then you're not much of a prophet.

He was very good. If that is the person I'm thinking of. Did he win the best male soloist at Southmont???

Why is your screen name 876?

What are your kids names? My cousin lives in Bemidji and is in the show choir.

To the person who made a comment of my bash on the Taeys Valley Billy Joel solo....I wasn't bashing the soloist at all i am sorry...what i was saying is let the choir sing he sang the whole song. A verse and even one of the chorus would have been fine but when you have a group that sings how Teays sings you should let them sing and not have a soloist sing the same thing over and over

did you mean the guys song or the closer??

QUOTE(Action @ Jan 12 2004, 12:59 PM)
Mt. Zion:  After finals, definitely the best show of the day.  Nearly flawless.  The costumes are the best ever.  The opener was the best of the day.  The solosist was great and the dancing was the best as always.  The second number was so fun and just great.  The ballad displayed a wonderful soloist and an amazing choir.  Everyone can now shut up about Mt. Zion's singing.  It was gorgeous.  You guys won cuz you danced your heads off with the hardest and most innovative choreography, and you sang beautifully.  They sounded amazing throughout the whole show.  The guys number was good but the hat trick on the foot needs to be cut.  It was very uncharacteristic of you guys to have that in there.  Its not clean and not funny.  The girls number was good.  The guys and the girls number is the only place the show kinda slowed down.  But when the guys rejoined the girls it was an awesome mix and a great fourth number.  The closer was  awesome and the final dance break was immaculate.  A deserved grand champions.

A parent here from Bemdji. I have been invloved in show choir for quite a long time, 3 of my chldren have been in show choir and I am inclined to agree, Mt. Zion danced very nicley. and this year, seems very much to be very good year for them vocally. I LOVED their ballad and the second number. as well as the rest. but those were the two songs that satanded out. The soloist for their ballad, Whitney Rollins i think is her name, looked and sang bautifully. She deserved best female soloist. and i think that their opening soloist was VERY good too. He grabbed my attention. In fact, all of there soloist were very strong, except the girl for the lady's # needs a little bit more umf! And there was another short slo. In the second song I think, was a boy, he was very nice too. He needs to be a tid bt more excited.I think this year will be a year when Mt. Zion coul possibly pull off a best vocals. IF THEY WORK A LITTLE HARDER AT IT! all in all they deserved to win, and i thought hey were the best there. out of ALL the show choirs.

Now, For everyone who doesn't like Mt. Zion. weather it is due to singing, or the fact the some misinformed people think that Mt. Zion is Cocky. The kids this year were very well mannered. At least to this father here. And i take back any of the mean things i said about them.

Also congrats to all the other sowchoirs out there. They were great. I did like other shows out there. Including EEE (nice soloist, but i lik the black boy better), FC, GCS, BG, and I did like Urbandale. i was a lil disapointed they didn' make finals, but oh well.

All I have to say about the post goingray is that I totally support GQ and will continue to. I don't think he has said anything to lower the reputation of Kennedy. If anything he has raised it in my mind. And I also believe that making a post on this website about this sort of affair is ridiculous and should be taken care of in private. If that truly was who they say it was, which I doubt, please reconsider any thoughts u had and leave GQ alone. Thank YOU.

Somehow... that honestly doesn't seem like the post of an adult, let alone a director or choreographer. If, on the off chance I'm wrong, it was written in very poor taste and perhaps this/these person(s) should reconsider their approach to addressing personal issues. But anyways... back to the topic.... ONALASKA!!!

Wow I completely agree with you, big al. I was shocked when I read that post by goinggray! I think, if anything, Adam is one of the more respected posters on here. He is so kind and genuine in his posts while other posters on SCC are known for being blunt, outspoken, and rude and those ppl give a bad name to their school. I feel the same way as big al that I actually like Kennedy more now cuz of Adam's posts and I am completely confused why you think his posts are childish, uninformed, and completely inappropriate.

I love you Adam!! hug.gif

What has he said that has lowered the reputation of CR Kennedy?

First, we all have enough common sense to not judge an entire show choir from the comments of one person.

Second, I don't believe that he has said anything that would merit the overly sarcastic message you have just called him out with. On the contrary, he has actually gone into other forums and defended people who have been unfairly attacked. This raises my opinion of him 100%.

Third, we all know that there are people on here that are far, far worse than Adam, and we don't even judge that person's show choir because of his actions. If anything, we would only feel sorry that his show choir has to deal with having someone like him around.

Overall while he certainly does not know everything about show choir (no one does), he is not as bad as you are making him sound. In my opinion having him on here has made me think higher of CR Kennedy, not lower. He seems like a fairly reasonable person to me and I feel that it is too bad we will not be competing with CR Kennedy this year.

It would be one thing if you were just upset at his actions. Rather, you have come too close to attacking his character, which all of us, but especially teachers, should be above doing no matter what the circumstances are. If I were in his situation right now, the only question I would have is whether or not to quit after being attacked like this.

Thank you to all who showed concern for MrGQ212 and responded both pro and con. Adam's a great guy and a valuable member of the Kennedy program, and this situation is now a closed book. Congrats to the competitors at Onalaska, as its the first competition ever held where you could've legitimately placed 15-20 groups in finals! Good luck to all groups in their competitions this coming weekend and God Bless, Damon Brown and Kevin Benford

this may be childish but heres what i have to say

for all of those who are whining, get over the stuff u didnt like, b/c its not goin to
change just for u. and for those of u with a vendetta against EEE, they did amazingly. They sang well in my opinion, like they always do. They danced well; scotts choreo was amazing, and april gave them fort level choreo. so way to go! really they got what they deserved. i am quite happy with how it turned out!
