Hey get off Damon's case okay. He's doing what he's supposed to do. If he and the director have a problem with what someone is posting then they have the right to say something to them. He's not starting a fight. Anyways....I'm sure if he passed the word on to any other director that someone was posting something that they shouldn't that person wouldn't be upset about it...... " border="0" alt="unsure.gif" />

Dude, I don't have a problem with him approaching the problem. I DO have a problem with the way in which he went about it. On a message board? " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> Are you serious? " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> . Let's weigh that situation up!!!!!!! . The best thing he could've done is notify the director and let him figure out a way to handle the situation. I just think that an adult posting that kind of message to the board shows a serious lack of decency and tact.

what the frick was up with those final results people!!  they were totally strange and unjustified.

How it was:
Mt Zion
GCS
EEE
Totino
FC
BG

how it SHOULD have been:
Totino
Mt Zion
GCS
BG
FC
EEE

in finals. totino was the only group that was completely on tonight.  their vocals were amazing (dont get me started on how EEE won best vocals because i thought that their vocals were HORRIBLE), their choreo was spotless.  it was refreshing to see another group win this competition, but i think that Totino had it.

there is no way that you could have eisenhower last....

I'd Have to agree. I don't see how Eisenhower could have been placed last they probablbly could argue for a second place finish because their choreography and vocals were awesome. Vocals does not depend on how hard you scream because that is not singing. It requires a type of blend that is becoming a dying breed in show choir. The comp should have been between MTZ and EEE with MTZ having the most entertaining and EEE with the most technically sound. This will be a great rivalry alll year with 2 schools only 10 minutes apart. Keep an eye out. How many show choirs can sing and dance with such high excellence, not many in my opinion. Just watch the tape the proof is there. Oh yeah and all awards except combo are based on the evening performance therefore Totino did not deserve best vocals. My top three would have been in reverse order
EEE, MTZ, GCS From right La Crosse the street.

I am so happy we finally beat Lacrosse! I really think our show is awesome this year. I was kinda surprised EEE and FC were in finals though. I really think Teays Valley and Urbandale should have been in way over them. Just want to wish everyone else good luck for the rest of the season.

This is a little letter to Mr GQ 212 from your directors and your choreographer.  You are jeopardizing your spot in your show choir by continuing to make Kennedy look bad by your childish, uninformed and completely inappropriate posts about things you know little or nothing about.  Your 800 posts tell all of us that getting a life needs to be more of a priority, and dragging your school's reputation into the mud needs to be less of one.  Sincerely, Kevin Benford and Damon Brown

My opinion is that a 40+ year old man who is obsessed with the message board is the one who needs to "get a life"... come on Damon, you're the only person who gets on here and chews out teenagers. I mean really, come on. Talk about his character all you want, but he is the only one getting into online pissing matches with high schoolers.

I do not think people should be barred from posting, but I think if there were a heavier presence of moderators on SCC, and they edited offensive content more often, it wouldn't be a problem in the first place. (Haakon disagrees with me for some reason)

This would also make SCC less interesting and fun to read. I mean think about it..if there were a ton of moderators running around editing every little thing said about a group that might be offensive then no one could see what other people thought. I mean look back on all the posts on this Onalaska topic alone, half of them would be edited. I think thats what makes SCC so fun, the chance to express your opinion w/o anyone editing you. Now that doesnt mean I think you should go around bashing groups for now reason, but everyone can take a little constructive critisicism.

To Mr GQ: That is the most RIDICULOUS thing I've ever read. I seriously doubt if that is an adult, let alone the choir director and choreographer of the choir. If it is then they are in fact what they accused you of: childish, uninformed, and completely inappropriate . What MATURE adult would do that?????

Anyway, dude don't let this effect you. In all actuality, if your choir's staff had a real problem with your posts, they would probably come to you in person not on a message forum. I definitely wouldn't quit over it. Just keep performing and have fun

Rumor has been said.....CR Kennedy people can't post any longer. In some cases, not posting could be a good thing, for the better of a choir. It is also a good way to meet people tho. It's really up to the director, and don't hold grudges about anything. People will learn from their mistakes and move on. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but somethings may be taken personal. It's time to move on......................back to onalaska!!!

When do order forms of the DVD have to be in........I can't wait to get mine to see everyone's show....I'm excited!

Seriously! What did Adam say?

Jeesh... this is not good.

Yeah! I noticed that when I watched Teays Valley's opener and I was like "Hey Westside had the same song and choreography like 4 years ago!" But then after we performed a couple people in the audience told me that Edgewood has the same choreography in "Love is the Healer" last year. Hmm, well...I dunno I guess I'm undecided about how I feel on recycled songs. As long as its executed well, thats the important thing!

Teays Valley: Here's why Teays didn't make finals: The second half of the show is dominated by solos who are merely passable. In fact, their show is way too heavy on solos. Another concern I have is the fact that Findlay opened with It's Today a number of years ago and the staging is very much identical. I am bothered by choreographer's who lack originality. In this day and age, choirs are competing all over the country. Years ago Andy Haines could do the same show for Carolina Spirit and Findlay and never have to worry about the groups crossing paths. That is no longer the case.

First of all sir, your opinion is yours and you are entitled to have it. Likewise so am I.
Many choreographers recycle their numbers, in fact I'd venture to say that all of them have or will at some point. Andy Haines comes up with new AND original numbers every year I can say as a fact. Exactly how many of his groups have you seen? I know that It's Today was the opener for WSD in 1999 but yet I am not bothered by this. Besides, every group is different and that number is new to them so what does it matter, anyway?
Perhaps we'll never know why Teays didn't make finals, but I highly doubt it had much to do with a recycled song and a lot of solos.

Anytime I hear of a group that isn't allowed to post, it kind of upsets me. If this trend continued, what would SCC be like? Chances are, it'd be really boring and desolate.

I do not think people should be barred from posting, but I think if there were a heavier presence of moderators on SCC, and they edited offensive content more often, it wouldn't be a problem in the first place. (Haakon disagrees with me for some reason)

Started writing this post before Ana did hers, and it took a long time so I could think it over carefully.

I don't have a problem with him doing it in public (I have heard a similar concern before and I understand why it is OK to do it in public rather than privately.) That is not my concern. My only problem was the sarcastic nature of the post. Telling someone who is only expressing their love for show choir to "get a life" is not called for. You can see that he has other interests both academically and athletically. I know that the use of this site has allowed me to find results of other competitions and taught me more about general reputations of groups, as well as their specific shows. But most importantly it has made me look forward to supporting other show choirs this year. I would think that is a positive thing, not a negative thing as people have come ever so close to suggesting.

Excuse me while I carefully step away from this Damon posting controversy. ..

Back to Onalaska...

I know that we did not receive any written score sheets from this competition, and were told that no groups did. The reason for this appears to be one judge (name withheld by Onalaska) who was allegedly writing inappropriate comments on his sheets. This is what we were told at the competition. It's really unfortunate because Onalaska DOES run an amazing competition, and nearly all of the judges they bring in each year are high quality, respected members of the show choir community.

It's been confirmed that "goinggray" is, in fact, Damon Brown.

I think it's very hypocritical to bite Damon's head off and scrutinize his post, and then end it with "you should deal with these matters in private."

So, practice what you preach, and if you have a problem with Mr. Brown, PM him. It's that simple. It's very disrespectful to scrutinze his actions, even if you don't agree with him, he IS an adult and a highly respected member of the show choir community.

Damon is our choreographer, I know what kind of person he is. He is a person I respect and admire. He just posted to let people, more specifically Mr GQ, know of his concerns (which were valid). I'm sure Mr. Brown PM'd Mr GQ later and dealt with it in private. It seems as if the only misinformed people are the hypocrites complaining about Mr. Brown's post.

Think before you post, pure and simple. Thanks.
