They did announce them during the evening awards as:

1st: Natalie - Olentangy
2nd: Claire Bailey - Kenton
3rd: Leah - Olentangy

(forgive any misspellings, soloists captions always be like that )

It was nice to follow along throughout the day. Thanks to the folks at Marion Harding for providing a virtual ticket/live stream.

I didn't catch every performance, but some of the ones I did: ETC always has amazing vocalists and that ballad was a great choice, I liked it a lot! As a Gaga stan, I was eager to see Grove City's 'Sine From Above' number - their entire show was really solid and they look great on stage! The GC program is alive and well! Fairfield had a stellar show and this may be an unpopular opinion, but traditional show choir is a good look on Fairfield. The volume, precision, and energy of their choreography was a blast to watch. Their song selections, very fun! I'm a big fan of Ben Platt's original music, so your ballad showcasing soft tender moments coupled with the full sound was a lovely journey. Congrats on the win!

It's also worth noting that Marion Harding awarded Milton-Union the People's Choice in memory of Kellie Mahaney. It was really touching and a class act.

note: Feel free to add in the soloists names and I can update them above. Not even going to try to guess at the spellings.

When it comes to predictions... is there going to be a "Finals" bracket that lists the top 6 groups based on scoring?

If y'all are referring to the 'Predictions' feature on SCC, the scoring component will still work. In competitions without finals (pretty much all of them this year), the scoring hierarchy goes by tiers - Tier I, Tier II, etc. So in prep for this contest, a user *should* have ranked the Tier I choirs in the 1-4 slots *and then* moved onto Tier II for the overall 5-6 slots (which would be the top 2 placements in Tier II). It's obviously a lot easier with finals or in competitions that don't have so many split divisions like this contest. Marion Harding's divisions are a bit different than most we see around (i.e. why aren't FFE and Fairfield in the same division? ). So our prediction feature isn't a perfect system (as we have to account for the many different ways contests operate), but if you're trying to "win" at the predictions feature on SCC, then that's how it's calculated - it goes by tiers. And I get it can be difficult to "predict" how an event will go when you don't know how a contest is going to run (i.e. are they strictly doing divisional awards or doing overall awards) - so you just sorta gotta roll with it. Häakon built this feature, so he can better answer any questions as hopefully I'm explaining it correctly here. The original thread where Häakon talks about the Predictions feature and answers questions can be found here: https://www.showchoir.com/forums/topic.php?id=26084

Running over an hour behind schedule?.??

Yeah. Historically, Marion Harding has sort of run behind and finished a tad late. I noticed today's lag maybe started after the middle school division? Both Marion Harding group exhibitions (and the middle school awards) were scheduled to take place between 3:10 pm and 4:00 pm (4 pm was when FFE was supposed to start). So it was probably an oversight to try to fit all that into a short window. Plus most of these afternoon groups have sets so it's probably a contributing factor.

On the flip side, the awards were *originally* scheduled for 10:30 pm, which is early for Ohio standards. So it looks like we might be seeing it closer to midnight (or after) which sadly feels more appropriate.

edit: I feel like it's probably worth mentioning that one of the recent years that Singsational went late, I think there was a fire alarm in the middle of the day? Don't quote me on that.

I’ve heard that it’s

Tim Smith
Bre Wilson
Ann Johnson (subbing in for Tim Smith for small Single-Gender and class B)

If anyone can confirm this please update!
