Well Sauk is really pumped to be coming back to Davenport! One of our favorite competitions all year!!
Unfortunately, we may or may not be coming.
Due to teachers union protests of Gov. Scott Walker's new bill, Sauk Prairie as well as virtually every other Madison area school had to cancel school today. Tomorrow is still up in the air. An email that Executive Session members received this morning said that as of 11 am today, the trip was still on, but if it was canceled another email would go out. Which I take to mean that it is up in the air whether we are going. I don't know that if school is canceled tomorrow it will be a given that we are not going, but all I can say is that it would really suck if we didn't have this great opportunity to perform. Especially in such a nice venue. Like I said before, it is one of our favorite competitions.
So, I'm kinda bummed today.
I'm going to be devastated if you all can't come down. Thats awful!

My predictions...I realize this is a tad bit bias and this is only based on the groups I am familiar with!

1RU: CR Kennedy
2RU: CR Washington
3RU: Sauk Prairie
4RU: Iowa City West
5RU: Davenport North
I have no idea for captions though, there are just too many strong groups to pick!!!
I think there is a good chance that Kennedy could take GC because their show is more theatrical which, from what I understand, is what the judges will be looking for. However, Linn-Mar is quite strong this year and at a completely different level than we were last year. There is no doubt that every group is going to come this weekend prepared to perform an amazing show! I am looking forward to seeing everyone!!! :D

I've heard that these judges are from more of a broadway, theatre school of thought, versus a more choral school of thought (like the judges from Ft. Atkinson for all schools who were involved at that contest.) This gives school's like Kennedy an advantage at this contest, because of their more theatrical approach to show choir. However in light of recent personel factors from Kennedy, and an extremely strong showing at Ft. Atkinson by Linn-Mar, I chose to put Linn-Mar in GC.
Then why isn't Sauk Prairie in your final predictions? They will be the most theatrical group attending by a mile.
I sort of agree with your thought process... at least for day round. I think the night round panel of judges will shake things up.
So is 10th to 2nd- happened when I was in high school. Also, 7th to 2nd with Washington this year. Anything is possible in between a week. Especially when historically this is a great competition for groups like Washington, Kennedy, and Sauk Prairie.
I was talking about how last week Washington was 2nd and Sauk was 9th. I know anything is possible in a week, and I think Sauk Prairie is going to do very well at Great River. I really like their show this year. It's gonna be the 3rd time I get to see it!!! And their vocals are going to fill up the lovely Adler Theatre!
