found it. are you sure you were watching wheaton warrenville?? i havent ever seen them this year live or on youtube until just now and on youtube i was thoroughly impressed. i think they could take this. i havent ever seen fairfield though...but what a great show! and theyre dancing is great...idk what you were watching pianoman. didnt you watch the best things happen while you dance? thats all "legitimiate dancing" idk what that means to you but that looks pretty legit to me...

I hope either Fairfield or Totino Grace takes down WWS. I like WWS, but I'm not sold that they're truly on level with these groups. I know, a lot of ppl think they're unstoppable. I personally don't see it... Mediocre vocals, Clean, High energy, but relatively easy choreography... I dunno.

Let's see you do the choreo.

And I think he doesn't like it because he can't do the choreo. Just a guess.
So anything you don't like isn't legit?

And if you don't care about choreography why the heck would you even bring it up? it was YOU who brought this up!
Yes Chris, because i'm the legitest mo fo you've ever met.... I'm the gold standard biotch.

Of course it's not like that...... ugh.

Did you even bother trying to understand what I said? even watch the vids? Compare them to WWS?

Mostly what I have a problem with is ppl comparing WWS's choreography to that of Burroughs in 2009, or Clinton 2007, Clinton any year for that matter.... I don't think their choreo is bad, I just feel they're getting overrated because of their high energy level. I've said that I haven't seen them live, and have asked for someone to help me understand what is so difficult about WWS's choreo? Instead of anyone defending them with any real information, I've just been called an idiot... lol It's really ridiculous.

I brought up the choreo because that Is what everyone is talking about, and that's what ppl are using to defend WWS being in the top 5 this year. I personally just don't get it, and I don't know why I have to explain myself for having an opinion other than the one YOU find correct Chris...

I feel it's the same situation as WV's break out year in 2008. They looked "cool" to everyone, but if you've been around a while and really broke down the show, they were obviously a very young and inexperienced group, not some powerhouse the likes of Burroughs, Burbank, Clinton, or Totino Grace etc.

I'm not saying It's EASY... I'm not saying it's BAD... I'm saying that I personally believe that there are MUCH better examples of excellent choreography than WWS this year. How is this not acceptable?

How can you say what Dwight does is not "legitimate"... clearly he has made a living off what he teaches. This world is full of different styles of dancers.

So Scott, why do you feel the need to say what is legitimate or not?

Lady Gaga makes a living with what she does as well, but there is NOTHING legitimate about her.... Maybe there was back when she was a brunette stoner, doing covers of D'yer Maker by Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd songs....that's legit.

Lol When it comes to pop and urban choreo, I only have seen Woody or Jen do anything that I LOVED watching and thought actually looked Urban, or Pop n fresh...

Dwights choirs are not my cup of tea. I always hear a lot of foot noise, I rarely see an overall Visual presentation. Just individuals dancing the same choreo as the 15 other ppl right next to them, until the blocks change. They rarely do any major stage movement.

When it comes to traditional or broadway numbers, It's gotta be Ron Morgan and Andy Haines, or it just ends up being interpreted as pretty vocals and armography... Zzzzzz.

I think Dwight, April, Jared, and Damon all do what they do well, and there is a place for them in the world, But I think it's fairly obvious that Carmel, North Central, Burroughs, Center Grove (etc) students who seriously are pursuing musical theater or dance, come out of their respective programs better prepared for major universities than those that come from other choirs that are just about being a great "show choir".

This is the last time i'm mentioning choreography, because frankly, I don't give a crap about choreography. It detracts from the time spent on vocals and If you can't sing, then you might as well just stand still.

Again, all you have to do is watch the first 30 seconds of any of these vids and if you're not blind, you'll see the legitimate theater aspect of this choreography, and stop asking me to support my opinions with argument.

1 - just watch 30 seconds or so, that's enough.

same deal

3 - Spanish Fork - opening dance break

So anything you don't like isn't legit?

How on earth can you say WWS's choreo is easy!?!!? They have some of the hardest choreography in the nation and the best in my opinion. From all that i've seen, Indiana in general has some of the easiest choreography and a lot less steps. That's from Pike and Teays. Indiana is a LOT more vocal oriented whereas Ohio is a lot more choreography oriented but of course still vocals

I'm gonna go ahead and say the top three WILL be Fairfield, Totino, and WWV. WWV has made some strides in the past few years and are a fantastic group! I haven't seen Totino since 07 and from what I heard they are way better than they were in 07. Fairfield is at the top for Ohio groups and will represent Ohio very well along with Twinsburg and Teays.

I've seen Wheaton live. They are phenominal. And their choreo is in no way easy, and the end of their ballad has like an amazing jazz chord (something with an 11th or 13th thrown in there), and you have to know what you're doing to make the chord sound amazing and create overtones which they make all the time.

Anyways, pertaining to the comp, I'd say easily that this is could be one of the hardest of the qualifiers. TG, Fairfield, and WWS all will have a shot at the top, and we will have no idea who will take it, but I'm pretty sure that they will all be headed to Indy at the end of April.

Good luck to everyone!

Yay for legitimate dance that you can actually use after high school!!! Go Andy Haines and Ron Morgan! woot!

Oh and I love Jen and Woody.

I know it's high energy, but really, How are people really getting this caught up over something that we've all seen so many times. I can remember when MTZ and EEE used to dance that well every year, and ppl didn't flip out over it. It was the norm. I'm not saying they suck. They're awesome, I just don't get why everyone has them on such a tall pedestal.

I know it's fun to pick on ppl. But just because I don't care for Dwight or April's choreography doesn't mean I'm "A Joke" lol. It means i don't like "Show Choireography".

I predict....

GC: WWS (BC)
1ru: Fairfield (BV)
2ru: Totino - Grace
with
3ru: Twinsburg
Very close behind.

All four could reaaaally switch around anyway.
