unfortunately in Texas the big obsession is over marching band in football. i mean cheerleading is a big deal but you should see some of the parents for these.

Lol, they are pretty crazy about marching band, but you haven't seen the way Indiana goes about it either. We usually come home with the most BOA placements.

IndianaMarching.com is a site devoted to just indiana marching band and I think their membership is probably 10 times this site's.... It's absolutely huge.

It's no secret that a lot of marching bands here in Indiana (Same names as the best choirs, no wonder) Carmel, Center Grove, Lawrence Central, Avon, Ben Davis, etc, spend well over 200,000 a year on their marching band shows. I'm not sure if that does or does not include the typical Arsenal of marching brass instruments that most class A schools here provide for the students, because they are too expensive to expect a student to purchase them...Usually between 10 to 15 of each Contras, Mellophones, and marching euphoniums. and the Battery (Marching percussion). It's a ridiculous amount of money to think about... but we come out with some RIDICULOUS stuff... Like Avon 2010! OMG AMAZING!

Best 10 minutes of HS marching band ever.

For the record, I do one hundred and ten percent believe that marching band is more difficult than show choir, if you do it at this level...

Oh every choir needs the "Mean Mom" lol. You know, the ones that get obsessed with show choir like Texas mothers over cheerleading? lol

Wowza. Once again, either it's just a good year for national comps, or the prospect of Indy is actually bringing out more of the big dogs. Props to FAME. Anyway, predictions:
GC: Franklin Central
1RU: Ankeny
2RU: Omaha Westside
3RU: Davenport Central
4RU: Manchester (Although Westwood has a chance, too)

This is exactly what I'd have said. Ankeny is usually a lot more Choreography centered than FC is, but I'd say FC's vocals this year will win this for them. The ballad is flippin awesome.

I'll go:
GC: Franklin Central
1RU: Ankeny
2RU: OmahaWestside
3RU: Davenport Central
4RU: Manchester

Vocals: FC Singers
Choreo: Visual Adrenaline
INS: FC Singers

Sorry I didn't really check your profile man lol. Didn't mean to insinuate that you had lady parts.

It's ok, he does have lady parts.

But in all seriousness, this should be a great competition. Really excited to see what everyone brings. Myself and Jeff will be bringing SCC updates.

What a great showing from Iowa and Nebraska. Iowa has Ankeny, Davenport Central, and Westwood (Sloan) attending, and Nebraska has Westside.

I would predict Ankeny and Westside finish top three. Franklin Central should make a good case for top three. Good luck to all groups here and if you get a chance check out Westwood. A very good small school from random Northwest Iowa with a fantastic director. If you get a chance, talk with some of the "Rebelaires" parents. They are honestly the nicest parents I have EVER met. I talked to one of them this past weekend at Hinton and they said like 20 or so of the kids parents/family members are flying down for this competition.. A great showing all things considered.

Anyway. GOOD LUCK to everyone!

Willow Canyon High School's "Evolution" will not be attending Fame Orlando actually. we went to FAME Hollywood instead this year

Well I'm assuming, Sorry. That's why I also asked about Tarpon Springs, because I'm unfamiliar with them.

Any given day, any choir can beat any choir. I didn't mean to make it sound the way you took it.

Sorry

its cool ive done the same thing except for the person that called me out on it was by director....wasnt too good haha

I am so glad that Jones County Jr. College (JCJC) Jones OnStage is hosting. Way to go Mississippi! I had the opportunity of seeing them last year and might I say that college show choir is really different!

The issue I have with this is that you aresay fc WILL have the highest score after they go. What if one of the smaller schools comes out of no where and beats all of the large school groups?

Although I haven't seen Ankeny this year, I'm going to bet that they're better than CSI. However, CSI is not a slouch choir. They haven't been as successful this year as in recent years, but after seeing them at Jefferson I wouldn't completely write them off just yet (especially because I heard Andy Haines is coming back to work with them before FAME). I haven't seen Tarpon Springs, but from recent history and from what I've seen, FC has a much better chance of a "points boost" than anybody.

and I'm pretty sure they pick time slots based on when you get your registration in, like a lot of competitions

or so happens FC isn't the best group at the end of the day...
ATSC and Dport Central came on strong for their last competitions.
I predict it will be closer then anyone thinks.

I "Thumbs Down"ed the schedule. Because that's a super crappy time slot for FC. I wonder how they determine the order.

Who, if choosing an order, doesn't lump the biggest 3 names together at the end?

I mean it's not a huge deal, they'll still be in finals, Just seems kind of strange to put Davenport Central in as a buffer between FC and Ankeny. FC will clearly have the highest score of the day after they perform, but will seeing davenport before Ankeny give Ankeny a point boost? probably... I'll just be interested to see what the placements are like going into finals.

Has anyone ever seen Tarpon Springs??? They have a pretty amazing marching band, but I've never seen their show choir.

You could say the same thing for FC getting a "point boost" from Tarpon Springs before them.
Davenport Central had a VERY good showing at Cedar Rapids Jefferson this past weekend.
