Things are going well here at universal. Davenport West just got off stage and Lester and Ankeny are loading the stage. I have seen every mixed varsity except tarpon (lunch ran long). Out of those, Franklin Central was pretty clearly the best, followed by davenport central. Then westwood, then manchester, then churubusco then sumrall. In my opion that is. 2 more to go!

After spending 2 days in Disney World, ATSC has switched over to the Universal/FAME Orlando portion of the trip. I'm excited to go see the groups tomorrow. I think Jordan/waterotter and I will be providing some of our thoughts throughout the day. Crossing my fingers for free wifi at the Hard Rock. Good luck to all groups, but I'll be cheering especially hard for ATSC!

P.S. I can confirm the 80's and sunny weather.

I wish I was in Orlando according to the family it is 80 degrees and sunny there while it is snowing here in grand ole Iowa. BOO, someone has to keep the economy running.

My Predicts
GC:Franklin Central
1RU:Ankeny
2RU:ATSC
3RU:Davenport Central
4RU:Westwood

Top 2 go to Nationals correct?

Top 3!

Well i marched Colts last year and made it again this year but i have surgery on my shoulder actually today and so i won't be able to.

Ill definitely go check out the forum. show choir people are probably annoyed by our off topic discussion.

Yeah, sorry for being off topic guys.

Go FC SINGERS!

Hey, I can introduce you to Avon's guard teachers and brass tech, and a ton of other Indy marching ppl if you come! BOA is always fun, but DCI is a lot MORE fun. haha. Did you check out the marching band/dci topic i started in general discussion?
If not you should answer this question there.

What corps do you march?

Predictions:

GC. Omaha Westside
1RU. Ankeny
2RU. Franklin Central
3RU. Davenport Central
4RU. Westwood

I think the top three are locked, but the order they finish could go many different ways. Ankeny and Omaha Westside met once this year, and Ankeny defeated them by one placing. Otherwise I don't think any of the other schools have competed much against each other.

Davenport Central is pretty much a solid 3RU pick, but I could see them sneaking in the top three or someone sneaking in front of them.
Westwood is a group near and dear to me, so I put them in at 4RU. They've had a very good year so far. I honestly don't know much more about the the other groups competiting, but I could definitely see Manchester or Churubusco getting into the top 5.

This competition is going to be great. Good luck to my friends from Omaha Westside, Ankeny, and Westwood! Lets show them how Iowa/Just-Across-The-River-From-Iowa show choir does it!

as much as i love show choir, my life is marching band and i agree with the statment about difficulty.

Lol, they are pretty crazy about marching band, but you haven't seen the way Indiana goes about it either. We usually come home with the most BOA placements.

IndianaMarching.com is a site devoted to just indiana marching band and I think their membership is probably 10 times this site's.... It's absolutely huge.

It's no secret that a lot of marching bands here in Indiana (Same names as the best choirs, no wonder) Carmel, Center Grove, Lawrence Central, Avon, Ben Davis, etc, spend well over 200,000 a year on their marching band shows. I'm not sure if that does or does not include the typical Arsenal of marching brass instruments that most class A schools here provide for the students, because they are too expensive to expect a student to purchase them...Usually between 10 to 15 of each Contras, Mellophones, and marching euphoniums. and the Battery (Marching percussion). It's a ridiculous amount of money to think about... but we come out with some RIDICULOUS stuff... Like Avon 2010! OMG AMAZING!

Best 10 minutes of HS marching band ever.

For the record, I do one hundred and ten percent believe that marching band is more difficult than show choir, if you do it at this level...

Haha, enough of this band stuff. SHOW CHOIR!!!! My alarm is set to go off in an hour and a half. Then I make the journey to Orlando!

Amen!!! I love ATSC's ballad so much so they better kick the crap out of it at FAME. Also I think the staging in Central's 2nd song is genius. I want to see great results from my Iowa/Nebraska groups

No, we were in the 30s at the Regional, not Grand Nationals. Back in 05 we got our highest placing at Grand Nationals which was 24th I think.

It had something to do with books in the bible and the role that God plays in pop culture. It was the coolest show I'd ever seen. Carmel and LC both had great shows too, even though LC's was pretty boring. I didn't really get Marian Catholic's show that year

We finished in the 30s that year. Lul.

Well that's better than FC lol, We qualified for BOA 3 times and never went because we knew we'd be so low... It's so hard to compete here in Indy...

Center Grove, Lawrence Central, Carmel, Avon, Ben Davis, and Castle ALL make the top 10 or 15 at least at BOA nearly every year... it's kinda crazy.

I'm super jealous that my parents didn't buy a house in Avon. We wouldn't have had a show choir, but to have been in that band... wow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx7tk4Oy-7U That's the show you're talking about, Awesome, I made the other topic.

Avon is amazing. I saw them live at BOA Regionals in 2008 and thought they were unreal.

Yeah, I was a 4 yr member in FC's marching band (impossible for us to keep up with Avon, Carmel and LC... We were usually like 12th or 13th in the state. Getting better now though finally.

BOA Grand nationals are here in Indy now, as well as DCI World Finals! I am really lucky to be able to see a ton of amazing bands every year,

I'm going to start a Marching Band/DCI topic in General Discussion if you'd like to chat more about some of your favs.

what was their 2008 show? was that Equus by Eric Whitacre? I'm looking it up. lol

It's ok, he does have lady parts.

But in all seriousness, this should be a great competition. Really excited to see what everyone brings. Myself and Jeff will be bringing SCC updates.

I literally know where you live.
