There's an old saying.  "He who has never made a mistake (intentional or unintentional) may cast the first stone."  Enough already.  The DB Spectacular was a wonderful experience for everyone.  Great music, socializing and fun.  My groups have been involved in these kinds of things from time to time for overtime, directing too many songs, directing in the wrong place, and at Show Stoppers for stepping over the line.  These things happen.  We talk about them and move on.  There are many more competitions ahead, and keeping this topic going seems as if no one has a life or anything better to do. It's also not going to change anything.  Every group did wonderfully.  Burbank In Sync earned first place, and that's all she wrote.  If other competition directors want to rewrite their rules to cover this one, they will.  I give a big round of applause to all the participating groups from Friday.  As we say over and over again,  "We are all winners!"

Hey In Sync,  fantastic job this weekend!!  It's truly an honor to work with you guys and play a very tiny part in helping your show blossom into what it's now becoming.  Also to Out of the Blue and Impressions I want to say it's so great to have the chance to see your improvement from the fall until now.  Thanks to all of you guys for a great 3-day clinic last week.  God Bless and I look forward to hearing about your successes throughout the year, Damon Brown

Hey Damon! Thanks so much for all of your great choreography and support. I am so excited for Sound Dogs and In Sync. The choreography is awesome! Thanks again!

If we dont get what we want, those trees will pay!! " border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

btw, if even Im getting sick of the controversy (I can definitely be a controversy junkie, a contro whore if you will) it's getting old. Burbank deserved the 1st place, fair and square and I am definitely proud of them. It's awesome to be in a town with so much talent (two GCs in one year! Sound Sensations and In Sync) and I think that discrediting them is wrong.

ok. i'm not gonna b***h but i was just curious.. how could arcadia beat burroughs.. when they tied in show. and burroughs got best vocals.. and especially when vocals are weighted more than show?

arcadia and burroughs tied in music, and arcadia got a higher showmanship score than burroughs did.

burbank got the highest showmanship score.

It is my understanding that many of the directors in our circuit have come to agreements on several elements of the competition format in order to work out many of the issues that have been problematic in the past.  I know that they have put forth great effort to simplify the system and make things as fair as possible.  I do not have specific details about what has been discussed, but I have confidence that they are making their strongest attempts to improve our circuit and make it the best that it can be for everyone who participates here.  There is no steadfast "law," however, which states that a competition MUST run their event in a specific way.

About 5 years ago, the directors have been getting together for a summer "summit" to organize and fix many problems in the past. (for instance, we got rid of that "disqualification" rule that Aztec had.... Many groups sufferred that wrath....)

So We did unite many (not all) rules and regulations!

Is this an official governing body?  Has every participating director agreed to these expectations?  Is it majority rule, or the opinion of one or two on how things should be run?
