Did Ronald host 2 years ago when Piqua had the Hamburgler in their show, and that McDonalds song....

because that would have just been amazing on so many different levels.

yeah he hosted then too.... he was like a mascot for our show.... it was pretty sweet

Heck ya' he scared me too. He's just freaky. Don't blame anyone for running up into the catwalk...I'm shocked I didn't have nightmares.

He's a sketchy kinda clown, indeed. I remember one student from last year who was helping out backstage with the competition and he happened to be scared of clowns. Bad combination I guess, considering he ran up these spiral stairs into the catwalk because Ronald was coming his way. Happy meal anyone?

Let's put this one to bed folks, alright? More important things to worry about. Fairfield and Colerain want to keep a positive relationship, and both groups have put plenty of long and hard hours to have excellent combos!

I do need to set the record straight, as Saxattack9906 needs to be cleared up of what actually transpired.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Parks and I had a meeting with Mrs. Busch regarding this issue- and came to the conclusion that trophies will not be taken away, but that Beavercreek will reflect that the rightful winner was indeed Fairfield due to the rule infraction. Both Mr. and Mrs. Parks knew of the infraction, but agreed with me that taking trophies away doesn't help anyone! As music educators, it serves no purpose.

Colerain's group has a great band, and they did score 1/2 point higher in prelims and finals. They too can claim "Best Combo" in their own right!

The comment of declaring the event a tie, however, is not correct. There was not a tie in scores. It was an unfortunate incident that should not have occurred.

Let's move on to bigger and better things. Best of luck on everyone's next comp!

I was just about to say this, is there anything else that stood out that night, like who had what shows (songs particularly)

Im confused too, that shouldve gone to Fairfield, as the piano was played by the director. Colerain should've never won that award, as this rule states in Bcreek's rules... "If a director does play the piano or keyboard, that group will not be eligible for the “Outstanding Instrumental Group”." so therefor Colerain wasn't ELIGIBLE.

You are absolutely right. Due to the rules of Beavercreek, Colerain should NOT have won that award but it was not their fault it was awarded to them anyway. I repeat it was not the faults of anyone except the people in charge of the competition. It was not Fairfeild's fault if they were forced to bring these rules to the attention of the competition officials nor was it the faults of Colerain. And after wards it was brought to the directors of Colerain's attention it was agreed that they would share the award, contrary to the assumptions that Michael Parks, an incredibly outstanding director that would never have an intention of taking home a trophy that didn't belong to him would be a "sore loser" and complain until he got his way. I knew him for 4 years in highschool and he would never even dream of doing something so rediculous. If he knew his band scored the best out of any band, he wouldn't need some peice of plastic to prove it. End of story. Seems like a non issue to me anyway.

It's time for Colerain people to stop grumbling about the instrumental "tie" with Fairfield last weekend.

You did evidently outscore Fairfield at Beavercreek, so congrats... you must have a really great band this year! However, the fact that you were allowed to even declare a "tie" for Best Combo with Fairfield was contradictory to the rules of Beavercreek's contest, since adult players are not allowed in combos eligible for that award.

Many great show choir combos use adult players... sometimes they can be eligible for band awards, sometimes only if it's the group's director playing keyboards, and sometimes not at all. Apparently at Beavercreek, the latter was supposed to be the case.

I would be willing to bet that your director(s) got a copy of the rules before this event and knew that your band wouldn't be eligible for the Best Band award if adults were playing, so continuing to press this on here after the fact kinda makes you look like sore losers to people uninvolved in this situation, especially since you're now being catty about it in OTHER threads.

Note that there are no kids from Fairfield (or any other group) on here complaining about the fact that you were given an award after not staying within the rules of this competition... to me, they seem like the folks with a real complaint to levy here. RULES ARE RULES, and if they're put on paper they ought to be adhered to!

Best of luck to Fairfield, Colerain, and their excellent combos this season. I look forward to seeing Fairfield at Danville in a couple weeks, and I'll hope to catch Colerain somewhere along the line too!

Chris

can't say it any better
