Best band and show design should not have been part of the finals. Those were always given out at the end of the day. Hamilton won best show design at the end of the day and I believe WV Won best band. I have never heard of those being part of the night show. It is what it is.

I think you may be confused. Though awards are given out during the day, groups are still scored in the same categories in the evening. The groups are scored on Vocals, Choreography, Show Design and Band. That's what the post below is referring to. This is how virtually all show choir competitions operate unless the switch to straight rankings in the night.

Not sure if anyone cares anymore, but Grosse won vocals by 2 points and choreography by 2.5 points. Hurricane won band by 2 points and show design by 8 points. Thus giving Hurricane the very close victory by only 7.5 points. Could've been either choir coming out ahead Saturday. Congrats to both choirs and everyone who participated Saturday.

A perfect score for a judge is in the 250 range, so out of the 1250 or so points available, 7.5 is incredibly close.

Can someone explain how GP gets BV and BC and loses GC?

Extremely close vocal and choreo scores separated by larger show concept and band scores which were large enough for Hurricane to pull the GC.

Well techinacally Grosse Pointe doesn't have an elegible band to be considerd for the (BB) award im a alumni and the band that we had were paid professional because at are school for some reason the band student just dont play for the choirs at competions they dont even play for us at our concerts so idk what thats about but since Grosse Pointe’s band members are
Paide Professionals and not Students they can never win (BB) or get extra pointes towards best band.

I just have to say congrats to Chris and Andy. Grosse Pointe was quite a jaw dropping group and showstopping performance! It was awesome to see them on fire!

How do they win with BC and BV going toGrosse pointe

These results are correct. The scores from today were definitely interesting. Obviously I am a biased alum, but I was shocked to see Marion 42 points behind while the top 3 were within 10 points in prelims....but hey that’s show choir. I definitely would like to know what the final scores were, obviously very close considering Hurricane won with only BB

When scores are as close as prelims suggest, it’s not at all impossible.

I've seen it happen before. Ironically, it was Hurricane. At the WV State competition in 04 Hurricane won GC and best band.
