Prelims Weighted Scores:

Large Mixed (In Order of Placement):
Loveland "By Request": Music - 814.5, Show - 560.5, Total = 1375
Beavercreek "Friends": Music - 815.25, Show - 536.5, Total = 1351.75
Grove City "Touch of Class": Music - 765, Show - 506, Total = 1271
Colerain "Show Cards": Music - 725.25, Show - 481.5 , Total = 1206.75
Marion Harding "Singers": Music - 726, Show - 470, Total = 1196
Lebanon "Singers": Music - 714, Show - 449.5, Total = 1163.5
Walsh Jesuit "Harmony Gold": Music - 672, Show - 462, Total = 1134

Small Mixed (In Order of Placement):
Whitehall Yearling "Music Unlimited": Music - 638.25, Show - 442, Total = 1080.25
Elgin "Energizers": Music - 614.25, Show - 412, Total = 1026.25
Shaker Heights "The Chanticleers": Music - 612, Show - 395, Total = 1007
Licking Valley "Vocal Impact": Music - 593.25, Show - 392, Total = 985.25

Single Gender (In Order of Placement)
Loveland "Allure": Music - 736.5, Show - 511, Total = 1247.5
Grove City "Class Act": Music - 634.5, Show - 460.5, Total = 1095
Marion Harding "Singers Xtreme": Music - 633.75, Show - 431.5, Total = 1065.25

There are 13 categories in Music and Show, so each judge can give a total of 130 points in Music and Show. Music totals are then multiplied by 1.5 and added to Show to get the total. In finals, every choir is scored with a condensed scoring sheet, meaning categories like "Difficulty of Music" and "Originality" (just examples) that should be unaffected from prelims to finals are thrown out. Those weighted scores (in both prelims and finals) are then converted to rankings and that is the deciding factor on placement.

Finals Ranks (by Placement):
Each group was given ranks on Music, Show, and overall, and for the sake of making it look manageable I will include them in that order below for each school. The judges will also remain the same, vertically

1 2 2 2 1 - Loveland "By Request
1 1 1 1 1
1 1 2 1 1

2 1 1 1 2 - Beavercreek "Friends"
2 2 2 2 2
2 2 1 2 2

3 4 2 3 4 - Grove City "Touch of Class"
5 3 4 3 4
3 3 3 3 4

4 3 5 4 5 - Marion Harding "Singers"
3 5 5 6 5
4 4 5 4 5

6 5 4 6 3 - Loveland "Allure"
3 4 3 4 3
6 5 4 6 3

5 6 6 5 6 - Colerain "Show Cards"
6 6 6 5 6
5 6 6 5 6

If you have further questions, ask away or PM me. Overall, Saturday was an amazing day with a ton of memorable performances!

P.S. You would not believe how long this took to type out.

I really appreciate the point spread, and I do not doubt that this took an eternity to type up, but do you have a point spread for finals?

Alex would you happen to know what the spirit of show choir award is? Is it just school spirit?

The Rich Rowland "Spirit of Show Choir" award is named after a beloved friend and supporter of the Marysville Choral program many years ago. After his passing, the award was named in his honor and is given to a group every year that embodies sportsmanship, integrity, passion, and above all else; Kindness. Something rarely mentioned by our own alumni, but something Marysville continually strives for is to be the "nicest kids in town." From long before I was in high school, to when I did attend, and still today, students stay after every competition, help clean up with the host groups, stack chairs in the gymnasium, and things of that nature. I mention this not to be egotistical or pretentious, but to point out what great attitudes our directors had and what qualities they wanted to see us bring to the art of Show Choir. Whenever the judges or hosts see a choir at Showcase that excels at just truly being kind and appreciative all around, in this case Beavercreek (deservingly so), they are given the award.

Might've been a lot of information for something that could've been answered in a sentence or two, but I sure am a proud alumnus

Wow, leave it to Marion Harding to give us fantastic soloists every year! Just wow. Also, a few friends have texted me saying that Beavercreek is currently ahead in vocals. Cannot wait to see the final results, I so wish I could be there!
