My thoughts on the day:

Waukee - Earth Song. I am obsessed. Amazing vocals. Amazing soloists. Amazing everything. I love love love it. Legit when you were don singing that song in finals i turned to my friend and was like, 'I'm so depressed this is the last time i'll see this' You by far had the best vocals. Your choreography was very clean and I LOVED YOUR BAND. I had you guys in first after prelims and finals. Just absolutely fantastic. Congratulations on the sweep. I agreed with the judges.

Lewis Central - Easily my favorite show choir this year. I started not liking you and i finished absolutely loving you. Everything seemed to be spot on tonight.. The vocals, choreo.. everything. And that ballad.. Andrew Gulden.. You had Kelsey and I nearly in tears watching you during the ballad.. I'm sure you know why. 100% my favorite group of the year.

Just found out how the judges voted during finals. Three had Waukee in first, placing us in second. And two judges had us in first, with Waukee in second. Sooooo close! But I'm very proud we were one judge away from beating a very very very good Waukee group.

Wow. Huge congratulations to Heelan!

I wanted to say that there were soo many amazing groups there.

Waukee- Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. hahaha Your show had my attention the whole time. I swear. I really didnt want to miss any of it. Not even by blinking! haha your band rocked it. And We did Earth Song last year. So i got really excited when i hear you guys start it. Even better, you guys made it amazing! I think your show spoke for itself. : )

Papio South- I had't see you at all this year. Once i heard you guys had beaten WIG at Viking Cup I was really excited to see you all. And I wasn't disappointed! Your guys' vocals were great and the choreography was reeally clean and thought out. I love the ballad (It's a classic ) And Musicology was looked really fun. YOu can rewally tell you guys have worked hard. Great job.

Pascalouga- First I gotta seriously say that you guys had seriously the coolest, nicest, and funniest people ever. hahahaha I met and talked to a few of you and a lot of my friends said they talked to alot of you too and agreed (something about a cheetah? idk hahahaha) . And once we were home we all said you guys were really awesome. Now, I really liked your show! Alot. The first song was cool. And gthen the second song came on and i got super excited. hahaha I loooooove Next to Normal. And I immediately recongnized it and sang along the whole time haha. And your lifts were aweeesome. haha

Lewis Central - You guys have always been awesome. It was really great to see you guys one more time. I can really tell that you all really put alot into the group and performance every time. Your ballad was really good. The way you delivered it really engaged me. It was not only how you sang it, but how you guys really portray it. Really awesome guys.

Gretna- Wow you guys. It was really close! hahahaha But you guys have come so far since we last saw you a quite a while ago! I love Dance Your Life Away. Like alot. hahaha Its awesome to find new songs through show choir sets, and then go home and put it on you ipod. haha And you guys were super clean and really delivered vocally too on saturday. I love all you soloists. (especially the spanish part of DSB. hahaha because i understood it.) But great show guys!

Heelan - You guys really brought it didnt you? hahahaha Your choreography and vocals were great. I saw that you guys really wanted to make it big in finals. and it worked. I could really tell that you allo really Anyway you want it is awesome. You really make a statement when you start like that. One that really delivered all the way through finals. Congrats!

Ands thanks to the Westwood students and parents for such an awesomely run competition.
(We had the best homeroom ever there.)

The only reason we may have come off that way is because it was our last competition performing this amazing show. We love this show so much, and the emotions were running high throughout the whole show. For many seniors, including me, it was the end of a 6 year show choir career. If that doesn't make you emotional, and make you want to go 110% completely all out, then there's something wrong with you. We knew we were in first after the daytime performances, and we were just as surprised as anyone else. As seniors, we wanted to go out on top and were willing to do anything to do it. Waukee is an amazing choir. To beat them during the day makes me proud to be a part of Harmonia Mundi. We know we have a great show, entertaining to judges and audiences alike, but we also knew we were going against some of the big dogs (Lewis Central, Waukee, Gretna, Papillion South, Pascagoula) It's amazing how much a venue affects my choir especially. We all love Westwood to death. It is hands down our favorite place to perform, and that showed yesterday. Last week, Ralston beat us in finals. This week, they didn't make finals, and we were in first place. Of course, I'm kinda mad we didn't win (how awesome would it be to win your last competition ever?) but I am so proud of how we all stepped up to the plate. Congratulations on an amazing year Harmonia.

By the way, the two soloists in our ballad are 4 for 4 winning the best male soloist

Which i understand and I was there once too. It just made the choreo more choppy, which probably brought down the scores a little bit. I know a few of your performers who i LOVE watching that were just.. seemed out of it during finals and trying very hard. The show was still obviously absolutely fantastic. I loved every minute of it. Favorite Heelan show for quite a few years for sure. Especially the ballad... just wow.

Heelan - I didn't see you during daytime, but you had to have been fabulous to have held first place after prelims. Your finals show was fantastic. You guys were leaps better than your showing last week at your own competition. I love your show a lot. Vocals are not of GC quality, but your choreography was very good. I felt that maybe you guys possibly over did it in finals. I felt you were trying too hard to win and less entertain and perform. I felt you guys deserved to be in the top half of this competition. And I am proud to call many of you friends (Stevi and Jessi) and very proud to call one of you my cousin (Beccaaa<3). Congratulations!

My thoughts on the day:

Due to complications, I didn't get here as early as I had hoped. My friend Kelsey and I arrived just before Lawton on the schedule. Originally I wanted to be there in time for Ralston because of my newly obtained friend in the group (Angie!).

Lawton: I always love watching you guys perform. You are a small school with a small show choir. You don't have the big bucks so you know you are not just up on stage for the glory, you are up there because you love it. And that shows in your faces. The show was very very fun and has amazing potential. My only problem is.. Well, you know I'm a huge ballad guy. And you guys always choose big ballads. Last year it was Letters from War, this year it was Orphans of God. Yes, if youtube hadn't been invented, I wouldn't be writing this. But the lack of singers doesn't provide enough vocals and it always leaves me wanting more. Other than that, I loved it.

Pascagoula: To be honest, your daytime performance surprised me...in a negative way. I was expecting a lot more out of you guys.. But then I realized (or was told) that maybe my expectations were too high and thats why i was disappointed. So i viewed it from that way in finals and wow. I love every part of your show. The theme was pretty brilliant.. a little sad in the end lol but i loved it.. that ballad.. fantastic. Your choreo was clean and your vocals were great. A smaller group compared to the others there and I loved that. It was nice to see the backdrops being brought to the midwest.. you don't see that a lot here. I loved your show so much.

Gretna: What can I say? You guys improved SOOOOOOO much since Omaha. You guys have fabulous vocal sound. I love it. A lot of contrast and it's just fantastic. Don't Stop Beleivin' was great, though personally i thought your daytime performance was better than your finals performance.

Papillion South - First thing I have to say is i LOVE your use of the stage. Your staging goes against the norm.. I love the groups in opposite corners or all on one side of the stage.. It was just amazing and made great visuals. Your vocals were fantastic.. And your choreography was very clean.. I had you guys in second place all day. Congrats on leading 4A after prelims! YOU DESERVED IT.

And that ballad.. Andrew Gulden.. You had Kelsey and I nearly in tears watching you during the ballad.. I'm sure you know why. 100% my favorite group of the year.

And I am proud to call many of you friends (Stevi and Jessi) and very proud to call one of you my cousin (Beccaaa<3). Congratulations!

After prelims i had it:
1. Waukee
2. Papio South
3. Pascalouga
4. Lewis Central
5. Gretna
6. Lawton

(I did not see Ralston or Heelan, so I left them out)

After finals I had it
1. Waukee
2. Papio South
3. Heelan
4. Pascagoula
5. Lewis Central
(But i told myself I wouldnt be surprised if LC overtook Pascagoula)
6. Gretna

ACTUAL Prelim placements were:
1. Heelan
2. Papio South
3. Pascagoula
4. Waukee
5. Lewis Central
6. Gretna

Overall it was a fantastic competition. Tom Gerking provides one of the best atmospheres for a competition EVER. The judging was fantastic, the food was great as always. I just love everything about Westwood. I am extremely disappointed I never got to compete at this competition. Just another great day on the 10th Jubilation! Congratulations to everyone on a great day! (:

Oh, WESTWOOD!
Though LeMars and Westwood have started a mini show choir rivalry, I really liked your show. Fly Again is an amazing ballad. And when Gerking came front stage, it was super hilarious. Great show and great job hosting today
