While I do have bias for my alma mater WWS, I think it's worth mentioning that I just watched The Classics finals show from Saturday (edit: did not see any other groups) and I am perplexed as to how they got third place. In my opinion the choreography was as clean as you could ever hope for (especially mid-February) and the difficulty was on par with some of the top groups in the country this year.
Guess that's just the way the cookie crumbles though... Onwards and upwards!
I gotta say I agree to a point, though there are a lot of factors. I know Prelim Placements were:
RIG
Bemidji -0.5pts from first
WWS -1.5pts form first
So to say it was close is an understatement. Now for show I agree that WWS had the best choreo, but I'm very biased there and love Dwight's work. I also LOVED WWS's show and thought the concept was super fun and creative, so this is strictly based on observation. WWS though vocally fantastic and a well executed show did not have a wide variety genre or dynamics. I know that's one thing that got Kennedy's girls last year. They were told that it was somewhat one note in selections. I applaud WWS for pretty much doing a full run without much of a pause or break, but that also might have had something to do with it, it just kept going from one thing to the next.
As for Kennedy, they came out with the big show and performed it the best I have seen it. All honesty I didn't think it was a great show at the beginning of the year, but this being their 3rd competition they have really bean able to fine tune different parts and that was one of the first times I actually enjoyed and understood their story from beginning to end.

It was announced that Vocalmotive and Jefferson Connection tied for best band but Jefferson Connection isn't eligible this comp because we had to have our director step in to play for our bass player. Congrats to Vocalmotive and I'm sure they'll correct the error during final awards!
We are so excited to see everyone in two days. The weather is going to be UNSEASONABLY warm - almost 60, which is nearly 80 degrees warmer than a few years ago when it was -20. (!!!!!)
