So here is a question. And I'll start by saying, I am by no means trying to start some sort altercation, just simply interested in others opinions.

Oak Mountains girls group, used several guys (5-6???) choreographed into their show. It was a little short minute long song as a transition piece I think it was if I remember right. I have never seen this done ANYWHERE before. Right, wrong, legal, illegal, whatever the case may be for each competition, what is the outside opinion of this?

Here a humble "Outside Opinion". The only women's group that I have seen do that was West Jones girls group last year. The guys (6 or 7 I think) came in dressed danced a little, I don't think they sang. If they did sing I don't remember. After that, they moved some set pieces and were on their way. A part of me doesn't necessarily think it's a bad thing and another part thinks that the "women" part of a group should hold. whether it's illegal or not, I have no idea. And at the same time it's not something that keeps me up tonight.
))))))))))))))

Similarly to Brad, I would say I've maybe seen this a handful of times. Generally if there are boys in a girl's show choir show, they're usually just used as props. I don't know that I've seen any sing or participate in any real choreography.

Well, these guys were choreographed into the show. I have no problem with guys from the mixed group(s) working props or stuff behind the stage. But I don't agree at all with having them within the show itself. It's called a Single-Gender division for a reason. Just my opinion though lol. I have no problem with groups trying new things, "pushing the envelope" so to speak. But adding in guys to a women's group, or women into a male division is a little much. Eventually by the time one group see's it, another group is going to do it, and another and another, and sooner than later you will run into compromising the entire definition of what a Single-Gender division is. But again.. just my opinion.

Major props to the girl in Oak Mountain Singers that performed the entire closer with one arm because the other arm was holding up her dress! You handled it with GRACE! I hope she sees this. Oak Mountain, you rocked!

She was very embarrassed, but I also thought she did a great job of holding it together (literally!).

I'm so impressed with her. I know girls who would have caused a scene ( literally! ).

Definitely my favorite show from Albertville in recent years! Great exhibition!

I wonder if they make the plane fly at other venues. I know Homewood has a shorter stage than Albertville does, and Tallassee's competition has a very tall stage. Great soloists too!

Dang, I'm bummed I missed it. I wasn't able to catch much of the feed as everything got WILD on here. But I hope to see when they come up to Twinsburg!

Had a blast at Albertville yesterday.

Really enjoyed seeing Homewood's show. Excellent, as always. Tift County was very good again, and Appling County's show was very entertaining to me.

I missed Albertville in Montgomery, so I was very happy to see their exhibition last night. It was my favorite of their "theme" shows I've seen in my 11 years. I'm an older, more classic person, but that one fit perfectly. The plane was very cool, too.

I thought when it started with the lights and fog that they were going to produce "ghosts" from the past first. Don't want to give away any more in case others haven't seen the show, but that would have been fun.

Proud of my two OMHS groups, too. Really happy for The Muses this year that they are getting some nice recognition. And The Singers put on a great show last night.

Albertville put on a great show yesterday. The emcee showed as much energy as the groups did from start to finish, too. Did a nice job of pumping up the audience (not that they needed it).

Will miss you, Albertville.

South Central excluded of course... That being said this was a deeper competition than I originally thought and was pretty entertaining... Should be an entertaining rest of the season.

I agree. Again do that or have prelims, prelim awards to get different groups recognized and then have finals. If everyone else can do them I'm sure these Bama competitions can figure it out. I know the struggle is real sometimes with the time but Finals to me brings the energy of a competition to a new level.

I watched the live feed for some of the day and saw lots of great groups!

I don't know how everyone else is feeling but I haven't really enjoyed the set up of the two Alabama competitions that have taken place thus far. I wish we could get captions in the small mixed and single gender categories, as well as top 5 or 6 overall in the place of finals.
