As for prelim awards, if I remember correctly, Milton and Franklin Central tied for Best Crew.

I was in Chicago for the weekend and went and saw the finals. All the groups were fantastic. Being a judge would be very difficult for this competition. All of the groups had a great show and I do no think much separated all of the top 6. Best show I have been to. Thanks to all the performers, great job.

Hey everyone! Congrats to everyone on a job well done! Yesterday was the most fun and intense competition I've ever been to...I had the best time ever and thank you to all the Hersey kids who made the day so fun! Every single group was unbelievable and it was an honor to share the stage with all of you! GO 214!!!

Also, just for the sake of keeping SCC records as accurate as possible and obviously to give my school some recognition hahah...Prospect Company received 2nd Runner-Up for the Prep Division!

Anyone have in sites on how Performance went with each group?

I a little curious why Franklin Central didn't do better at this comp like I though they would do. I know there was a lot of Great groups here as well!

I tried to keep notes to jog my memory about each show and I'll hopefully share more later, but I gotta get some sleep.

To address your question about Franklin Central specifically: I enjoyed F.C.'s performance. I did have trouble understanding their words, but I think that was more a matter of where I was sitting (up high, front of the gym, meaning out of the range of the speakers and not in the direct vocal line-of-fire but not out of the range of the combo) and perhaps balance with combo. Because the singers did still have a very full, mature sound, in my opinion.

Unfortunately I didn't get to see WWS so I can't speak about them specifically. But for me, there wasn't anything wrong with F.C., just BG was a notch above FC vocally and BG's show had a little extra pop or oomph or dazzle or SOMETHING to it. That ambiguous extra factor that the judges/audiences see in the performance that makes show choir simultaneously rewarding and potentially frustrating.

These are my personal observations, but I am by no means qualified to really pick apart these performances. Only way to really know why a group placed where they did is to dig up some score sheets.

Awesome shows, awesome day, thanks to all the performers who entertained us today! I'll be back on here soon (hopefully) to share some more thoughts and dish out an assortment of compliments that need dishing.

those results are pretty much exactly as i predicted. Buffalo Grove was a group that I hadn't really heard of until last year and then they did extremely well. I expected Buffalo Grove to do well. Wheaton Warrenville I figured would sweep it, as they did.

And yes, being biased towards Prospect, I did automatically place them NOT in 6th and then I filled in the groups around them. Realistically I think much more highly of Sound than this prediction might suggest, but... between alma mater bias and fairness to established programs, I chose alma mater bias.

lol at least you're honest about it

Congrats Esprit!!!! probably one of the top 3 Single-Gender groups i've ever seen.

Ok but in all seriousness, I don't have a strong feeling about the outcome. I definitely like Buffalo Grove, Franklin Central, WWS for my top three, not necessarily in that order.
If I HAD to make predictions:
GC: BG
1RU: WWS
2RU: Franklin Central
3RU: Milton
4RU: Prospect
5RU: Mundelein

I won't insult those on here who actually know what they're talking about by trying to make caption predictions.

Single-Gender:
Lights, followed by FX, followed by someone else.

SO EXCITED FOR CHICAGOLAND!

I think it's safe to predict that Best Vocals will go to M.C. Chuck Henson.
