They're going to Show Stoppers too. It's nice that they didn't take up a space in the ISSMA state comp (since clearly they would have qualified at any of several competitions they attended) and push another choir out that would like to compete.

Center Grove is competing at Fame in Orlando. This is their first time competing at Fame, I believe. They would have gone to Showstoppers, but because of the new rules, they declined.

By the way, CG Debtones won the Single-Gender division on Friday, and CG Singers won the concert choir division. Way to go Center Grove!

Good luck to CG SoundSystem today! Make it a clean sweep!

carmel didn't use a hired band in '07. As far as i know it has always been a student band....or at least as long as the Accents have competed. They now share a student band with the Ambassadors.

Good Luck to everyone tomorrow. This is going to be a State to watch!

Yeah no i couldn't really believe they were using a hired band, because like i said they've got an amazing band program... Someone on an different thread mentioned it... Thanks for clearing that up!

Olden days = Good ole Days. lol... I realize it wasn't TOO long ago... but you have to admit, Most of us were BORN after 1986... Back when Laff Jeff could sing, and Carmel was truly king of the castle.

I really enjoy your Vintage vids on youtube Scott! thanks for posting them!
Someone mentioned either in here or another post that Carmel is using a hired band??? i'm VERY confused about that... with THAT band I program wouldn't think they'd have trouble getting amazing musicians from within the school... I mean Saucedo is an incredible director is he not supportive of the show choir program?

is he still AT carmel???

I'm asking Scott bc i know he follows both show choir and drum corps/BOA...

According to the "Bishop Luers Performing Arts" page and a girl that I talked to from Bishop Luers both said that they are not going to ISSMA State but they are going to Showstoppers in Orlando, FL. What does this mean for the empty spot that Bishop Luers is leaving? Is it filled or not?

Yes Just to let everyone know, Carroll has taken over the Bishop Luers spot at ISSMA. Just wanted to let everyone knon, GOOD LUCK!!!

I can't believe it is time for the State Show Choir Competition already! This has been a very exciting season for Plainfield. I am not sure how the scoring will go but I am sure it will be an EXCITING event. Best of luck to all groups.

GO PLAINFIELD!!!!!!

I know Dr. Pete Eklund is judging this competition. I'm not sure about anyone else.

As proven over the years, Huntington North can pull off upsets over anyone in the nation if they want to. And this year especially HN has tended to do better in day rounds than finals (i.e. they were in first at Center Grove by 20 points i think) so this schedule could very well work out for them.

No you heard right about carmel, they got 4th and a lot of those groups got beat by FC... but they did turn around the next week and win GC at Huntington North... Beating Ben davis and lawrence Central... i'd have them instead of warren Central in 4 RU probably

on that note... I love warren central, Whats their show like this year? i thought their vocals were WONDERFUL in 2007, but i haaaatted the choreography...
Does anyone have a Judges list yet?????

Opener: Take a chance on me (Little Women)
2nd: Superstition (Stevie Woner) / Have to believe we are magic (?)
Ballad: When the time comes (Avalon)
Guys/Girls: King of the world (Songs for a new world) / I don't need a man (Pussycat dolls)
Closer: Proud (?)

Its a GREAT show. Very entertaining.

Their vocals are the same... amazing. And their choreography is a lot better this year. Every year they get better. Until 3 years ago, Warren never made finals. Not even once. Now, I think they've made everywhere they went. At Pike, they were 1.3 points behind Center Grove for best visuals. So they have gotten a lot better visually. Their costumes are a lot better. They're all around better than they were last year.

I think this is a good list, however, I would make a few changes. This is just based on what I've seen and the placements so far this year. They are:

GC: North Central
1RU: Huntington North
2RU: Franklin Central
3RU: DeKalb
4RU: Warren Central (Warren and Lawrence are close. However, I think Warren has a more interesting an entertaining show. Plus, their vocals are a LOT better)
5RU: Lawrence Central
6RU: Ben Davis
7RU: Plainfield
8RU: Carmel (Haven't seen them this year. I heard they got 4RU at NC. But I could have heard wrong)
9RU: Brownsburg
10RU: Columbia City

Best Vocals: North Central / Warren
Best Visuals: North Central
Best Band: Huntington North

I have never seen Columbia City, so therefore I have no idea. I put you guys last but that is probably off. Just my opinion. Best of luck to everyone competing! I Can't wait to see.

3rd Runner Up: Lawerence Central
4th Runner Up: Warren Central
5th Runner Up: Carmel
6th & 7th Runner Up: Ben Davis or Plainfield
8th Runner Up: Brownsburg
9th and 10th Runner up: Dekalb & Columbia City

North Centrals opener this year is amazing! I love how you first two numbers grab the audience and you keep their attention! ;) I heard that Franklin Central is amazing this year so i think it could be close this year. Carmels show doesn't grab you like it did last year. " border="0" alt="ermm.gif" /> I haven't seen Huntington North or Lawernce Central this year but im sure that they are good just look at their past history. I think that Plainfield could beat Ben Davisand take the 6th runner up. I haven't seen Brownsburg, Dekalb, or Columbia City. Good Luck everyone ;)

I feel like I am very indecisive by the way my predictions look lol. However this comp. will depend a lot on the judges. Where they are from could impact this weekend a lot. I love North Central's show, but I am kinda pulling for HN this weekend. The only thing that might stand in their way would be their performance time... Good Luck to all

Well you might be thinking of Bishop Luers.... Tscott talks a lot about the olden days when he was in show choir and how huge that competition was back in the beginning ish... It wasn't a state competition, but you did see Laff Jeff, Marion, North Central, Carmel, Huntington North.... That could be what you're getting at

Did they have ISSMA or some type of states along time ago or sometime before 2005 and get rid of it for awhile?

Hey i'm just a bit curious about your opinion... Whats your reasoning for your placements? i wouldn't have thought to have HN over Carmel BD and FC... FC especially considering they've beat carmel and ben davis this year... Granted that doesn't have a lot to do with how the comp might go, Just curious as to your logic...
