My apolgies for earlier statements made on this thread. All things said came from a hot headed suportter of Carmel..not somebody actually part of Carmels PA and i again aplogize for the accusations and put down that I said. I didnt realize at the time my comments cast a negative shadow over Carmel which i saw when i went back and read it. Sorry to everyone and great job to all who performed.

I would agree with allismom, but I don't think the auditorium is large enough. After the break in mixed, people had to sit in the aisles and such. LC's students and parents were GREAT they helped a student that I know with health issues with a nurse that was on hand. The students were great and I liked being in one building and not spread all across campus as with Ball State and Clowes (although I would pay anything for state to be in clowes every year...) Overall great job hosting and a very smoothly run competition!

Thanks LC!

Only complaint was the incredibly long time we were kept outside the auditorium waiting before we were allowed to get seated between the Single-Gender and mixed shows. It was at least an hour or more and very hot and crowded. I understand that it was not LC making us wait, it was ISSMA but perhaps they could have opened the doors at 4:00 or 4:15 at the latest. Other than that (and the outrageous admit ion prices... ISSMA again), I thought it was easy to get to, well run, and very pleasant! Great job and thanks LC!!!

Did those that attended yesterday feel good about how the contest was handled - we at LC loved having the event at our school - I know alot of things that were different than when we host The Classic, but we had no control over them since it was and ISSMA event and we were competing.

I wasn't there, as I was working as well, but I still feel the need to chime in here.

Has anyone noticed that every single comment about North Central's show is just praising the opener, and nothing else? Sure it's amazing, but what about the rest of the show?

Wow, you really think that? I love the rest of the show! The ballad always gets a standing ovation. And I walk out of the auditorium still dancing to the closer.

Oh, well. Everyone's opinion is different.

FC, it just wasn't your day. Great judges, all of whom I respect very much and I think looked at the shows as fairly as possible. According to the people I talked to, you did wonderful work and had a great run of the show, it just didn't click with the judges in the way we'd hoped. No excuses, no complaints. You've had a fantastic year, and I'm so proud of the show we've put together and the distance you've all come as performers. This year should be a wonderful memory for all of you.

Carroll, I'm so happy both groups got to perform, and that mixed was pulled in on Friday. Mrs Jeran said you guys gave it everything you had, and that it was one of the best shows you did all season. Select Sound, evidently you guys had a very solid show and should be very proud of yourselves.

Congrats to Carmel and the rest of the amazing top 6. All fantastic groups! God Bless, Damon Brown

Congrats to Sweets for 3rd and while this hasn't been a typical year for Central Sound in regards to placements at contests - I know based on the multiple comments from parents, and students from other schools that it was a great show and very entertaining.

Personally I think the contest was very well handled. It was also an amazing auditorium, I loved it. We actually determined that the school is actually a airport mixed with a mall mixed with like one other thing that was also massive.

It was a medley of "Children will Listen" from Into the Woods and "Mama" as recorded by Il Divo

It was a great contest!!! I was tehre all day and after seeing all the groups, knew it was gonna be a tight contest. i would have place things a little differently tho.

Womens:
GC: Carmel (Let's face it, the Accents are AWESOME)
1RU: North Central
2RU: Ben Davis
3RU: Lawrence Central
4RU: Brownsburg
5RU: Dekalb

Now Mixed...I had some different ideas for mixed:
GC: North Central
1RU: Carmel/Huntington North
2RU: Carmel/Huntington North
3RU: Ben Davis
4RU: Franklin Central
5RU: Warren Central

But that;s just me. Anyways, great job to all the groups that were there yesterday! Everyone did great and deserves a big round of applause for their outstanding shows and hard work!!!!

Did Carmel not do a ballad this year, or is it just not on YouTube yet? Regardless, I thought the show was one of the best I'd seen in a long time; plus visually and vocally the execution was outstanding. Every choir going to FAME Chicago should be glad the Ambassadors aren't competing there.

What a great contest - probably the best that I have ever been to!

I did not get to the contest until the third women's group - so these "results" do not reflect seeing the first two groups...

I thought women's should have gone...

Carmel (let's face it they rock)
North Central
Ben Davis (you got screwed)/Lawrence Central
Brownsburg
Dekalb

Mixed:
North Central (visual)
Huntington North (vocals - best I have heard all year)
Carmel (so well done - but boooring)
Ben Davis - best entertaing show hands down
Frankilin central
Dekalb

I would really be anxious to see the actual scores...anyone willing to post the??

Great contest!

Has anyone noticed that every single comment about North Central's show is just praising the opener, and nothing else? Sure it's amazing, but what about the rest of the show?

It's because the show falls completely flat after the opener. People are being blindsided by the powerful opener and not really focusing on the rest of the show. Their show is very overrated this year. I always enjoy watching "Counterpoints" but I just don't think this was their year to win state.

Other than that, it's not surprising to see Carmel win. They had a bad performance at MIC and I was surprised they even made finals there. At the same time, their issues at MIC were very technical in nature and probably relatively easy to fix, so it's not that shocking that they were able to pull off a victory.

Plainfield... what happened? Tenth in visuals? That's very interesting.

I'm interested in hearing from an unbiased person in attendance why Franklin Central didn't place, although I fully expect nothing but "Unassociated" people crying foul.

Either way, March 29th will be VERY interesting.

We participated in two qualifiers and at both North Central and Huntington North, the student hosts were incredibly gracious, encouraging, supportive and genuinely kind to our students and parents. Our motto is "A Touch of Class" and both of your schools' students set aside any competitive differences and made us feel so welcome. Being a classy performer on and off stage is what it's all about. THANK YOU!

I was there yesterday and my personal opinion was this:

GC: North Central
1RU: Huntington North
2RU: Warren Central
3RU: Carmel
4RU: Ben Davis
5RU: Dekalb

It was a little off as far as I was concerned. I was completely shocked that North Central didn't take this one. But I guess that's why I'm not a judge. But I do hear that it was veeeeeeery close. As in 7 points between 6 and 1. And as far as Franklin Central goes ... yes they have had a veeery successful season and I've seen them multiple times. However, yesterday their show didn't have the usual energy and power that it usually does. Even with that said I hear they were only .4 points behind Dekalb. So congratulations to everyone involved. Definately an entertaining day.

Actually in the totals I do believe it was an 8 point spread between 1 and 3rd. If I remember right.

Did anyone else think that Carmel's show was a little weird this year, or was that just me? I don't know...I guess I feel like their show was just so out of order; their ballad is like one of the last things they do, they have like 2 guys numbers, 2 girls numbers, and what looks to me like two closers...it was just a really weird show...well executed of course, just very weird.

And for those who think North Central's show dies off at the end...it only keeps getting better. An amazing opener, killer soloists, that ballad---my god, and then the guys and girls numbers--they're hott this year, and they're gonna win FAME.

I agree that it does seem really fishy when Carmel wins almost every award for State when they obviously didn't have their show together at MIC. I am in no way saying that it is rigged, but for one to win is great, two to win...kinda awkward.

well, all I can say is that it was a very long, hard-working, and painful two weeks. haha

Carmel- Great job! I loved talking to you guys. You guys were awesome I loved your show and you really were some of the nicest people.

Ok I was a little suprised that NC didn't win. I really had NO clue who was going to get 2nd-6th. This competition was so even. I think that ISSMA really values more traditional styles.

As for FC placing so low I think the only reason is maybe the judges went to Ball State and got mad you left them out. lol But I was suprised you were in the bottom 6.

My Favorites of the Day have to be NC, Carmel, Ben Davis, and DeKalb.

hey! this is Kyle! I met you three when you were sitting in front of us during the Ben Davis and Dekalb shows. it was really nice meeting you guys, and good luck with the rest of your season! hey, and thanks for the compliment
