When did Edgewood go from April to February? Is there any correlation between that and declining interest?

When I competed there in 2003 we had a horrible experience (hosts were several hours late, room wasn't decorated at all, our hosts were eating dinner during the awards ceremony and we were unescorted). Although it was an isolated incident, I think the only reason Edgewood was so popular was because it was so late in the season.

Shelbyville always went to Edgewood for the mere fact that it was in April. We didn't want our competition season to end in March, so we went to Edgewood in April. Needless to say, 2006 was Synergy's last visit to Edgewood, since they changed the date to February...

Edgewood changed to February last year because of declining interest and conflict with sports. The day we would have Contest of Champions was normally a day that our baseball team and softball team had a double-header and our other sports teams were gone. Our Music Warehouse members weren't able to host. We also realized that most choirs don't compete that late into April unless they are going to a National Competition. It also gives Warehouse a chance to get critiqued before they go out onto the circuit.

South Jones, Mississippi will be coming up to the Hoosier State to give some Midwest Show Choir a try. I am really excited to see them coming. This competition is going to be stacked again this year like it has the past 2 years.

Last year was Marysville, Findlay, Sullivan, Eisenhower, Crete-Monee, Franklin Central, and Teays Valley.

I remember Marysville, Zionsville, and Parkview from 2006.

2005 was: Lafayette Jefferson, Fairfield, DeKalb, Anderson, Crete-Monee, Anderson Highland, Shelbyville, Linn-Mar, and Southwestern.

We have been known to bring great competition, Clinton has come before (I think it was 2002) but it looks like 2008 will be no different. I will keep listening for more groups as they come in.

The only reason we did not have finals that year was because we had no air conditioning in our auditorium. Instead of having Single-Gender and Junior High in the Auditorium, it was ALL in the gym. And even if you remember, it was HOT in our gym, and we had 4 huge fans running from each corner. A lot of people passed out off stage after their shows. There should be no reason for not having finals, but we are always known for doing strange things.

yea, they have the top from the championship division for finalists, I think in 2006 there were only 6 Championship division groups, plus there might be more coming

i imagine more choirs will sign up as the competition date approaches. if that ends up not being the case, and the 2006 "Contest of Champions" has already been mentioned, the competition may be condensed into one day without finals.
